Man I like the regular side-swoosh that the IV-VII had. Nike has played with the swooshes on both the hyperdunk and the LBX. It gives the kobe line recognizable medial and lateral views and has kept me buying the shoes. I dig the kind of swoosh on the mercurial cleats and the hyperdunk, but its a little to much to do it on every signature or flagship basketball sneaker that Nike puts out in a year.

so of course we'll see the lebron's before kobe's.
i think to fix this line, nike has to go back to the $120-$130 price point, bring the IDs back down to ~$160 (maybe even $140 like the zk4 IDs
), and give us better color blocking.. putting on camo designs, gradient and crap like that isn't going to cut it.

Hopefully the ZK8 doesn't contain any of Nike's usual gimmicks to increase the price tag - I really want to play ball in Kobes again. I played in the IV, V, and VI in the three years they came out, but switched to the AJ2012 this year because of how much of a letdown the Kobe VII was on court. It seemed like they put more effort into the marketing and coming up with the new idea of that useless little sleeve on the supreme version than the fundamentals of a basketball shoe itself. My only pair of VIIs served only as much use as the pair of all white AF1s that sit next to them.

Just made me want to go out and grab a pair to see how they perform on court. Me being 6'6" 275lbs I need something that wont have my knees feeling like pudding after I play for a good 6 hours of pick up games. Didnt they hit outlets already...

because its the only shoe we haven't seen yet, its the only one I'm still looking forward to. The Lebron and KD look like GARBAGE, couldn't be more hurt about that. I hope they don't drop the ball, the 8 may be the only Nike basketball shoe I have in my scope all year...

6'4 210 here and all 3 insoles are money but the full length air might be good for you

Kobe system is alright in my book...Just hoping that Nike moves the model back to the same low profile they used with the VI...and maybe adds a full zoom air option to the whole system thing...

Man I really hope the Kobe 8 takes some notes from the AJ2012...Kobe deserves a better shoe - he was the only dude left in the NBA wearing the 7 last year by the end of the season. Even Demar Derozan switched back to his iD VIs.
my wishlist for Kobe 8
Different cushion systems for different models of the same shoe, kind of like how the AJ2012 had separate models of the same shoe with different cushion systems. Kobe, with his aging legs and us consumers would benefit greatly from a combo unit(zoom-max/regular air) instead of zoom-zoom. I had friends whose knees couldn't stand 4-quarter game with the minimal cushioning the Kobe provided and had to switch to the much heavier LBIX, which isn't really a guard shoe.
The same flexible material that molded to your foot from the VI. I felt like that was one of the only upgrades from the V to VI.
The same herringbone traction pattern from either the IV or VII. The V/VI cushion was subpar for a guard.
Better heel /overall lockdown. I feel like the Kobe could really need something like a sprint-frame from adidas on the back part of the shoe, I had to do runners loops to fix lockdown in the V and VI.
DITCH the switchable booties. The little ankle strap didn't do anything anyways, and the fact that the inner bootie was removable just made the shoe feel flimsy. I would much rather switchable insoles, those were great on the AJ2011.
Option for wider feet on NikeID. I personally don't have the problem, but I do know that the Kobe line is notorious for being narrow. I feel like the Kobe line would greatly benefit if a wider range of consumers could wear the shoe comfortably.
Of course, the shoe should look good, but I don't think Nike will let us down with the Kobe 8's aesthetics. The kobe line have always had a place in casual wear.

no, he wore the 7's all the way through to the last game for the raptors. but summer league he's been wearing jordan's..
my wishlist (and i'm sure a lot will agree)
- kobe 5 heal cup lockdown
- kobe 4 traction
- kobe 6 "mold to my feet" /fit
- kobe 4/5 colourblocking
- kobe 4/5 pricing (especially for ID)
- kobe 7 outrigger
- kobe 7 cushioning (it was amazing, a lot of bounce to it)
