Ok officially jumping on the Superman band wagon.
Any story arcs I should read? As well as animated movies I should watch? To gear up for the movie of course

Watch all animated films if you can, I actually watched Superman Unbound today (good basis for a JLA film), pretty good but art is less than desirable. All-Star Superman is probably one of the best animated films in recent memory.

I posted this in the comic book thread:

All-Star Superman is a very good read, actually even the animation is pretty good though it might bore you if you are more used to the other DC animation films. The story itself is just good that even if you hate Superman, I'd recommend reading it just for the story alone. What Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? is also very good and probably one of the must read for Superman fans. Not entirely a Superman-centric book but my favorite thus far is Kingdom Come, I just love that book and suggest everyone read it. I'd add Superman for All Seasons to this must read too. These are my personal choice of the best of the best.

Other reads/arcs I'd recommend: For the Man Who Has Everything, Secret Identity, Last Son, Death & Return of Superman and What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & The American Way.

10 Essential Superman Stories to Prepare You for Man of Steel

I'll add these to that list:

  • "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?"
  • "For the Man Who Has Everything"
  • "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?"
  • "The Death of Superman"
  • "Red Son"
  • "Last Son of Krypton"

^^Right in the beginning he kinda mentioned some of that:

A hardcore fan will notice some notable omissions. For example; Superman: Red Son, an amazing and interesting take on the character, adds nothing to the overall concept that would aid in the readers’ understanding of what makes Superman so compelling. Likewise such masterpieces as Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow and A Superman for all Seasons are omitted mostly because they represent versions or eras of Superman almost completely negated by other entries listed. I’ve also left off the Golden and Silver age classics. While there are many fine stories, a new reader is less likely to embrace them as they are a product of their time and somewhat dated today.

Didn't notice the disclaimer

I just scanned the list and was surprised of the omissions. I ain't really a hardcore Supes fan, these are just the ones that I'm really familiar with.

Lois has been made to be someone who's a strong, scrappy person at least in the animated series, but Debbie Snyder seems to be pushing this new age woman garbage with this characterization.

Your list is arguably better than the list from that website, the only two titles I would pull from that are All-Star Superman and Kingdom Come.

I would also add Superman for All Seasons, its not action packed or anything but it really gets to the heart of the character and how Superman came to be.

General Zod Returns with More Messages for the Man of Steel

Over a month ago, the viral marketing for Man of Steel started to ramp back up with a message from Michael Shannon's character, General Zod. The original video was a message for the people of Earth and for Superman himself, Kal-El.

Now, the messages have returned and are appearing in different languages when users visit the official Man of Steel website. The last time these messages presented themselves, a new trailer for the film followed only two days later. A new trailer for Man of Steel trailer has been confirmed by Deluxe and is expected to launch sometime this week and will likely premiere in theaters with The Hangover Part III this weekend.

after reading the superman earth 1 comic i wonder will elements from that be integrated in this movie

the new trailer :pimp:

4 Nolan movies for DC >>>>>>>> anything thats been put out by anyone on the Marvel side......there simply is no competition, nothing has topped the dark knight and if this film does is only Nolan beating Nolan....kind of feel bad for Snyder, because we all know Nolan-God will take all the credit...lol

wow that faith of your planet trailer.......... :smh: this movie cannot fail.....

**** gave me the chills

that joint looks too legit....please let Nolan do Flash next and WonderWoman and finish it off with a JL film.

This is Zack. Hope he gets the credit.

he'll get some credit, specially from his fans, but nowhere near the further glorification Nolan will get if this succeeds, thats 2 of the most iconic superheroes ever whom had taken some L's in the big screen and he brought them back STRONG.
