I actually attend a D3 school and i went there on a football scholarship for the academics... D3 basketball isnt all that bad at all
for one we have 2 D1 prospects who bounced back due to grades but overall i say its a big step up from highschool unless you were

word. that's just what i was about to say.

i mean this team seriously just presses and pops 3s all game. all game.

they platoon sub their guys in and out in 5 man units and will gladly give up a 2 and then run back and pop a 3. again and again and again.

Lol, you guys are acting like i said everyone who plays D3 is garbage, not at all what i said. Obviously there's talent, but if your something SPECIAL atbasketball, you would be recruited by a D1 school and get a scholarhsip...thats what special is. Special isnt being good enough to play abroad, or even beingable to walk on at a D-1.

See that's where I would argue with your logic. At least to me playing overseas > getting a d1 scholarship.

I got a couple friends who play D3, and all they have done istransfered around looking for playing time/a coach they like, and have let academics fall to the wayside. Its silly to chase a dream like that when it startsto affect whats really important. You're starting to base you choice of college on how BAD its ball team is....? Best of luck to you I guess, but don'tlet it get in the way of reality and screw you over ten years from now...

Oh, and the guys I know are damn good, led our league in HS, and they can barely find burn anywhere, so D3..... not a joke.

I can vouch for AK as I know all those guys as well.

Not to mention, it seems like a lot of you just don't understand what playing ball abroad IS.

Like yeah...you might be getting a fraction of an NBA players salary, but you're still making a VERY respectable salary. Even if you go there and only make$100,000 in USD...EVERYTHING is paid for. You don't have to pay for meals, housing, travel, etc.

So yeah you might only be making $100,000, but almost all of it is YOUR money to spend.

Here's the official breakdown.........

These days playing D-1 is all about AAU teams, your coach's connections, and WHERE not HOW GOOD you were in HS. I've given D-1 players the business inthe summer and wonder who recruited them. It's all about exposure these days.

Now D-2 is still tough comp. The only real difference is the size and athleticism of some the players. You'll get D-1 transfers and solid local kids forHS.

D-3 is crapshoot. I'm going to a D-3 this semester from a JUCO and they beat 2 D-1 schools this year. Up north and in the midwest the D-3 schools gotcrazy white boys dunking and dropping 3's. It's a different world up there because it's D-1 or nothing. Plus, there are NO SCHOLARSHIPS! Theseschools are expensive and most have higher academic standards. In D-3 the players are alot smaller usually like......5'10 PG, 6'1 SG, 6'3 SF,6'4 PF, 6'6 C or most schools got like a 3 guard offense. It's like there are no complete packages from what I've seen.

A D-1 player will be:

Court savy
Athletic
Skilled at his position
have decent height and weight

In D-3 every players is missing one or two of them attributes. You find a Ben Wallace type monster that can't dribble or make a bounce pass. Or a 5'9muscle head with handles and hops.

im not basing my decision for a school on basketball though, im transfering to UM Morris becuase i can go there tuition free. basketball is just secondary tome

You have no idea what kind of competition is abroad. There are only a few roster spots for foreigners per team so you have to be really good, not to mentionyou get room/transportation/food taken care of. Anyone who plays abroad will make more than 95% of recent college graduates. Why do you think a lot of prosdecide to play abroad rather than in the League? Because the moneys better, that's why.

D3 has the most wide spread of talent.. at the top, there are some really good players.. at the bottom of it, there are some very average players.. Butdon't go thinking anybody could play it. Most guys are not good enough to play any level of collegiate basketball, no matter what they may think. Playingat any level of college takes a serious commitment and a good bit of talent.
