Oh no, Steve Buckhantz never lies. the best announcer in basketball calls it like he sees them.

"How do you like that?"

you mean city of Champions....were they actually win unlike dallas and the knicks doing great this year lol , thats probably why their fans have the right toeven speak about the Celtics. Cetlics blew it tonight and all you can hope for is for them to start playing Celtics ball again insted of the sloppy play wehave been seeing lately. lol at the haters though.

People are so quick to forget stars in their own cities being caught for cheating. it's cool though...even tho in this case its legal and done throughoutthe league...keep hatin'

Seriously though, until someone convinces me why it's okay to play music during but not crowd noise during the game, I won't even consider this tobe news.

to be honest , we are by far better then you guys and lets not act like the timberwolves didnt recive good young players with potential in return.

It may not be news......but it just makes them seem so cheap and dirty. It's like going and getting a 5 dollar %@!%%% instead of finding some real sex.Or better yet, it's like wearing fake jordans. It's legal, but it just ain't right. You gotta get the real thing

Edit: I can't believe they edited out that word that rhymes with looker.

Yup, you guys are clearly better than everybody else in this world.

Boston, well, we will give you a billion dollars. You should win the world series

New England, we will give you extra video tapes, you guys should win the super bowl

Celtics, we will give you three all star players durring the season, and artificial crowd noise.

I mean, you are so much better than everybody, so let us all bow down to you, the God's of the sporting world.

I dont even think that the Pats got that much of an advantage at all with the spygate thing. Personally, I dont care about that situation one bit. But itspeople like you that keep that topic going on and on. Its people like you, that is the reason why people dont give respect to any teams in and around Boston.

Notice that all of your fellow Boston fans arent saying the load of crap your saying. I see "If they are doing that, then shame on them" kind ofthings. But no, you have to prove that you are the God of the sporting world. Here, ill give you something to follow.

@#%$ outta here.

It's not ever that loud in the Garden these days. The only time it really gets up is when they put up the Noise-O-Meter thing. But if they are doing it,they should get fined/punished.

But can we wait until theres some proof first? Just cause the Wizards announcers said it doesnt make it true.

Well this isn't proof, but it shows that it is done in the league. The article is over 10 years old though.

In reality, proof isn't needed. If you listen, the crowd noise comes so spontaneously, that theres really no question about it. It's one of Buck'spet peeves though.

March 22, 1997 - (AP) If it seems there are more people cheering the New Jersey Nets than there are fans in the stands, there's a simple explanation: The basketball team pumps up the atmosphere with crowd noise from loudspeakers.
Team officials acknowledged the deception yesterday after it was reported in the New York Daily News, but they would not provide details on how it's done or when it began.

"Some of this stuff is embarrassing," coach John Calipari told the newspaper. "I just shook my head. I said, 'Do we need to do that?' "

The team plays it home games in Izod Center, which seats 20,049. But with the team mired in 13th place in the NBA's Eastern Conference, empty seats are not uncommon.

The artificial cheers were noticeable during the Nets' 99-98 victory over Chicago on March 14, 1997. They drowned out booing by Chicago fans trying to distract Xavier McDaniel, who made four foul shots in the final minute to clinch the victory for the Nets.

"I didn't notice that," McDaniel said. "Is that true?"

Said guard Kevin Edwards: "I guess it's like a game show, where they have those applause signs."

While sports teams often use organs, driving rock music and scoreboard signs to get the crowd pumped up, the Nets appear to be alone in admitting to using fake crowd noise.

NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said he knew of no other teams that used artificial crowd noise. He said the practice would violate NBA rules if the noise was blared during free-throw shooting. Otherwise, the home team can broadcast whatever it wants over the public address system.

Calipari said the Nets' bogus cheers will eventually be silenced.

"One day, you'll say it was only three years ago that they were pumping in fake crowd noise. You'll say, 'How far has this organization come?' "

I remember hearing about this. They showed a clip of two very bored Nets fans sitting there amidst empty seats and you hear this loud crowd noise inthe background

During Celtics games when play starts from stoppage, they often put up this thing thats like "The Garden Meter" to get to crowd to start up and tryto reach the top. Im sure they do that everywhere, but thats why its so spontaneous.

And honestly, i'd bet that every team does it. It really doesnt make a difference. And apparently, its within the rules.

How is this article from 1997 with quotes from John Calipari?
It wasn't named Izod center until this year. It was either Brendan Byrne Arena or Continental Airlines Arena back in 1997.
