OFFICIAL NIKE KOBE 8 SYSTEM THREAD

I feel as if the whole idea of selling the lunarlon/orthotic inserts separate from the shoes is to address the complaints about the lunarlon "bottoming out". clever move by Nike.

In 2008, Lunarlite (before the name change to Lunarlon) was known to bottom. From my experience, Lunarlite bottomed out at around 400mi (LunarTrainer). Today, Lunarlon has come a LONG LONG way in terms of durability. I run in Lunar most of the time, and my LunarEclipses have well over 1,100 miles on them. I know I'm comparing the tech of different sports, but, with that remarkable improvement in durability/lifetime, you'd think Nike has vastly improved their Lunarlon tech. I'm sure it'll translate well with their basketball shoes as well.

TPG: Repped. Thanks for the pics! I'm definitely sold on the design of the 8. I'm just waiting on some simple (solid uppers) cws to spark my interest. However, I do like the Sulfurs. I'll just wait on them to hit the outlets though.

Nike DEFINITELY went back into the lab with lunar. For basketball purposes at least.

The "bottoming" was a big problem to a lot of people. They've tuned it very well. The Fly Wade 2 was proof of that for me personally. They wouldn't of gotten as much criticism as they did and begun to bring it back out this heavily if they didn't. And i'm glad they did!!

LUNAR FTW!

Here's an instore pic of the chaos, they looked really good IMO.

400

Took some pics to see how they look but end of the day decided to return them lol. The only gripe is the pattern. Does not make sense.
Pretty evident what inspired the 8s. Even the laces are similar

too bad they didnt leave the swoosh on the front side of the shoe. would have made them look much different than previous models

What in the blue hell??? How does a pattern make sense or not make sense? The inspiration for the pattern is a SNAKE. The laces are a very common flat lace.

^Some Stores Have Gone To "Reserves" For This Particular Release...... In Those Cases You Can Only Reserve 1 Of The 3 Releases Per Store

Reserved Kobe's, Brons And KDs Today Myself 8)

I was on my way home from Universal Studios and just happened to pass by the Glendale Galleria.

Tried on the Sulfurs and it was nothing like I expected. They felt good, but as expected the Lunarlon insole not having any type of fabric over it caused my foot to heat up really fast. Overall they were very comfortable and I've never worn a shoe like the 8's before.

They also looked great with jeans on and I think they look better on feet than they did on display

I also got to put my size 12 in the Christmas Lights and Christmas KD V on reserve. They only let you put one pair on reserve, but my gf put the KD's on reserve for me. It was the last 12 in the Kobe's and I believe in the KD's as well. Didn't really check for other sizes, but there was a lot of reserves already.

Pure luck on my part. I live out in Corona so it's somewhat of a drive, but at least I'm guaranteed my pair.

any possible chance that all footlocker locations are doing this? Reserving the KD's and Kobes? And how does it work? Do you get a Ticket? Your Name on a list? Thanks!

^ No idea about all footlockers. I've heard some friends say their local ones did raffles or w.e.

As far as the reserving goes, it's completely free. They take down your information, size, and then give you a ticket. All the information does go on a list so they have every size accounted for. I have to pick up my pair on release date from 8am-12pm or it goes back in stock.

when i reserved my shoes at footlocker i totally forgot to ask when the pickup window is on the 26th. whatever i live like 5 mins away from the glendale galleria so ill go early in the morning.

Once again for the people who only read one page per thread existence.

US release=2 stripe.

China, etc=Full shozoku.

I've been searching through the thread but didn't see much; any insight on how these fit?

I think I saw someone say they fit more like the VI's, but I don't remember. VI's were true (snug, but comfortable fit) for me, while the VII's were much better a half size up. Probably won't be able to try a pair on before I have to order the Chirstmas'.

Thank you!

It fits TTS, almost the same as the 6's but the 8 is better (snug and comfortable)

Love how the bottom of the insole has the Diamond logo marked in it; just the lil design details matter. Its so damn light, it might as well be a running shoe lol. Definitely a shoe to be able to rock off the court easily, I am looking forward to see how they perform on-court and wondering about the durability of the mesh material.
