[h2]Massive August update brings a boatload of new content to Splatoon[/h2]
On August 5th, a free software update will become available for the Splatoon[emoji]8482[/emoji] game on the Wii U console. Two new modes, new weapons, and an increase to the level cap are included, along with lots more fresh content.

New modes:

• Squad Battle: Create a squid squad with your friends and head into Ranked Battle* modes together.
• Private Battle: Two to eight friends can battle together in customizable matches. Private Battle also allows players to hold small-scale custom tournaments using up to 8 Wii U consoles and games on a single Internet connection.

New weapon types:

All-new weapon types are coming: Sloshers and Splatlings. Use the bucket-like Slosher to hurl ink with impressive range, or use the Heavy Splatling to charge up to six barrels of ink and blast away.

New levels:

You'll be able to level all the way up to level 50 in Turf War, and reach ranks of S and S+ in Ranked Battle*.

New gear and more…

Fashionable Inklings will have more than 40 new gear options to try out. Fans can also look forward to several more content updates throughout the summer and fall, including an all-new Ranked Battle* mode called Rainmaker, plus new maps and weapons.

Also, Urchin Underpass is getting a makeover... As a result, it won't be available in the stage selection from 08/02 - 08/05. It looks like they're expanding the alleys and removing the trees near the bases.

Smash Bros Update from Reddit


Translation: On the morning of Friday, July 31st, we will be releasing an update for Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. In addition to Tourney Mode (Wii U) and Replay Uploading, we will also distribute new premium DLC (Mii Fighter costumes, Stages).


In Tourney Mode, compete to win points over a set period of time. Players can create their own tourneys and adjust the rules as they like. We will also be holding tournaments for players to compete for the top spot. Tourney Mode will be available for free.


New Costume - Smash Hoodie
A snazzy zip-up featuring the Smash logo. Also note the flame accent on the sleeve! Comes paired with cool gray pants. Available for all Mii Fighters on 7/31!


The two stages are throwbacks to the original Super Smash Bros., Peach's Castle 64 and Hyrule Castle 64. Both stages will be available for 250 yen each on one console, and 350 yen for Wii U/3DS together.
