Bulls offseason Thread

Basically. And it's terrible!
It's frustrating that Thibs won't change the line up beyond the wing position. He's stubborness and loyalty to go veterans first, will be the downfall to this team. Gasol really need to come off the bench and start Taj, then Taj could probably get his energetic self back

Thibs smh frustrating

Kinda don't blame Taj.

Gasol comes in and becomes a big focal part of the offense immediately.

The offense is basically pick and roll with Rose or dump it into Gasol

Isn't that what we wanted though? A big man we could dump into down low? Every time a 4 became available, whether it was Aldridge before POR turned it around or Love before the Cavs trade, we begged the front office to go after them.

Now that we have a decent one, we should sympathize with Taj for his lack of touches?

Taj doesnt pass out the post at all. Once it gets dumped down to him he does lnt kick it out. I for one dont think Taj doenst get traded just for the fact that we dont have anybody to replace him especially with Jo's knee.

I don't think he'll get traded either. Just shut up and play, I'm tired of these dudes crying about the little things. Too much talent on this squad for us to be in our current position.

As much as I wanted him gone before the season, we really miss MDJ :smh:

Na, don't get me wrong. I think Taj should shut up and play. I'm just saying I can see where he's coming from. He helped hold the fort during the Rose-less years. Through the years his role gradually got bigger and bigger and then Gasol comes and he's kinda back to square one again

jmause3 jmause3 I do agree about Taj not passing out of the post. He's been pretty much a black hole this year and he pretty much the reason Whiteside had 5 billion blocks in that Heat game.

Rose with a clutch shot at the end. Other then that, he looked terrible. Way too many turnovers. Can't believe how much this team is struggling against inferior opponents.

Finally hitting me that dude will never be the same. Not just talking about the skill but just mentally. He just isnt locked in like he used to and sometimes its like hes just going thru the motions.

Hurts to see the injuries did this to him :smh:

I'm sure most of the sports world is going to disagree with me, but I have a feeling that Rose is holding back on purpose to unleash himself in the playoffs. Really think he's thinking about the long game.

It might backfire. Basketball isn't as easy as flicking on an on switch in the playoffs. Or it might be the best thing he's ever done. We'll see.

I agree to an extent because there were times that he would really explode off but his handles wasn't there to compensate his quickeness. Other than that, he's going through the motions and Derrick Rose has been out for 2 years, gradually the mentality will start to fall through when it matters most.
Let's compare Rose from the start of the season to where he's at now. His on-court personality has changed. At first, he would smile often while playing, he wasn't too hard on himself and he was seriously pacing himself that it was obvious. Presently, he's still coasting, picking and choosing which games he wanna show out, although he'll try to switch the flip on his drives, his handles aren't there yet to compensate Bc he doesn't do it often enough for adaptation. I see his dropping the F-BOMB plenty of times now. He's more aggressive with body contacts and being more wiser with the refs. I believe in the 2nd half of the season, we'll see a different style that Rose will work on towards PO.

I still remember when most people here were claiming my doubts about rose were too far fetched and that he will be fine.
the reality of this season however Confirms my theory that he might not be the same. Not only is his fear to injure himself anytime but his body is also fragile but his shot attempts are quite off by pulling way too many 3pts instead of getting a bit closer to make his jumpers

Once again, the guy has missed 164 games plus the playoffs.

How can we expect him to be exactly the same or even on the level that he was after only playing 40 games this year?

that is the point. We should not expect him to be the same shape after such long time court absence and 2 severe injuries.
If he remains healthy for the whole current season and next one, then we might have a chance that he can perform at least
80 - 90% of his prime game.
We need to be realistic and not too optimistic. Setting expectations too high will only cause bigger disappointments.

I agree with that which is why I'm not getting upset at the bad games he's having now nor will get upset at the bad games he will have later on. I fully understand this is a process, I'm just glad to see him out there on the court every night.

The only thing I'm pissed off about is our team acting like a bunch of divas, that's not the make up of who we are, it's always been about hard-work/defense. I hope we can get back to that after the AS break.

I think the thing that upsets me the most is just seeing the lack of effort in keeping his guy off glass on the defensive end. Far too often there will be times we play good defense and when the shot goes up he just stands and his guy will crash the glass and get the offensive rebound. Im with you that bad games will happen and there will be night that his shot doesnt fall but there isnt an excuse for not attempting to box out.

Im sure some of his frustration also lies with the driving lanes not being the same as when he last played too, as our personnel has changed. Is it too much to ask that we run more sets for Jimmy?!

None of our team seems to be good at boxing out, we just jump after the ball

The best Bulls in the last five years at boxing out was Omer and Boozer.

Lol totally blocked that game out. Forgotten about it. You reminded me LOL I take my previous comment back

Lmao, I can't believe I forgot there was a game.

Jimmy got hurt? We're about to play LeBron without Jimmy again?

Good win last night! Glad we were able to come out and take care of business. Nice to see MDJ back out there
