i get my haircut every week its 15$ and 5$ tip so 20$ a week x 52 weeks that's a lot of money they make on me alone.

15$ haircut x 20 a day = 300$ a day + tips seems good idk.

One of my friends is a barber (he's asian) and his whole clientel is black and he owns a house, a corvette, a god damn boat and managed to go to most of the playoffs and world series games here in SF. I always thought he did more on the side but for the most part, I think it is his primary job. I definitely should have did life different because the corporate world is such BS.

Other dude said his boy helps 20 people for 300 so thats $15 a pop- X 6 (most barbers i know take Sun off) 1800 a week- X 52 = $93,600 usually CASH.. and you can report less to the IRS ..Your not selling goods so its not hard to be slick rick with it-  And thats assuming you only help 20 a day.. You gotta think Fri and SAt are on point... Back to school time etc-

And if you dont own your spot you gotta pay a "seat" charge.... Basically keep all your cut money- But pay a weekly fee.... I heard as low as $50 and as high as $300 a week..

I am sure it is the usual $15 haircut. He has a good following but I know he rents a chair. Something doesn't factor out right but I never want to question another guy's wealth. What he does is his own gig.

In Cali they got a pretty penny. Usually charged 200-300 for their chair, but probably see 10-15 heads a day if not more @ a $20 charge. Nobody pushing Vettes or going to playoffs tho. Ur barber must have rich parents.

Every workday a barber should average 10 heads, How much one make all depends on the price of the haircut and the price of the chair.

true and false

go to any suburb and these dudes are raping everyone for 20$ minimum. my barber rapes for 20$ not including tip, and does appointment only, so no wasting time cutting kids hair for 8$

10-15 dudes a day would be a slow day at the barbershop i go to, my barber is cuts about 3 dudes per hour, an astonishing rate but makes sense because he doesnt spend 40 minutes talking or arguing. he works from 730/8-5pm. 3x a week. whatever he's making, its enough to have him in a condo + car and motorcycle + have his gf hatching kids with no questions asked

I feel every barber SHOULD make good money. Since its not too hard, you build a steady client base. And every barber ive known or gone to has had a side gig.

Barbers don't get good money.
Hair Dressers and Salon dudes, they do.

Realest statement in here.

My barber has a great following, but even he tells me every time I get my cut that hes trying to get into Hair Dressing/salon.

$15 per hair cut

Didn't YOU just make a thread like this not too long ago? Are you trying to be a barber?

Why are you so concerned with how someone else makes a living - aren't your parents rich?

Barber make VERY good money, but it depends on how hard you wanna get that money.

if you wanna come in at 8-9, take 1:30 lunch breaks and leave at 4:30 you wont make much.

but if you come in around 6, take a 0:30 minute lunch and dont close the doors until 6p? oh yeah, you'll make good money then

Dunno about other Barbershops but with most African American ones it's first come first serve on Saturdays so you bet your *** I'm gonna be there at 6:00 AM
Biggest pet peeve... my favorite barber sure as hell does not keep a very accurate appointment schedule. Its always a good day when I walk in and no one is in front of me--even though we always text with the heads up that I'm coming in at a certain time.

Love it or hate it though, the its a necessary evil to look fresh.

And y'all best believe the barber life ain't THAT lucrative. Yes, its straight cash, but what 'bout them SLOW days? People aren't getting haircuts 24/7. That plus the cost of rent and the amount of time spent on your feet... it's a long day's work.

It's not the parents though. I am sure there is a side hustle but I don't know what it is at least. What's funny is my mom cuts hair and knows he does well and she just gets pissed everytime she hears another thing he buys. Of course she's never that smart to thing he's doing dirt, so she just assumes it's from cutting hair. And just to add, I think the Vette could be leased and they are season ticket holders from the begging of the year. They do have a 600k house though and he is only 29 and lives in the Bay Area.

I posted this i the other thread:

The owners of shops have a lot to pay for. Shop upkeep. Machine maintenance/replacements. Entertainment (magazines/cable). Utility bills (water/electric/phone bills). Added to the fact that 15 heads a day at 5-6 days a week is highly optimistic.

If the owner, who has built up a decent repore among customers (enough to have opened a shop in the first place), isn's assured 15 heads daily, the regular dudes that work at the shop damn sure won't be cutting that many. Then they have to pay weekly booth fees. So essentially, they're paying just to have a job.

It's definitely not what some people think as far as monetary gain. My uncle has owned a decent shop here in Atlanta for the past 10 years, so I've seen this stuff first hand. It's anything but easy.
