Gotchya... Do they charge you?...

Chargers at mall do charge you. It comes out to either be the same price or higher than gas.

An electrician should be able to install a nema 14-50 for $500 for charging at your home.

Tesla chargers are always free though but you don't want to use them every time cause it degrades the battery. Only use it when youre going on trips across the country. It's also better for your battery to keep it at 80-90%.

lol man aint nobody got time for all that. Naturally all things degrade over time, but hearing about battery just draining overnight/cold nights, wouldn't that be annoying as hell being someone who lives in a city with real winters?

I'm gonna need a moist towelette

wonder how much this model would be

Can you expound on this? The Tesla charger is worse for your Tesla than a mall charger? The Nema 14-50 doesn't degrade your battery?

The model 3 is WHEW.

I was looking at some 3 series and tried to convince myself to overlook Lexus' weird grill shape but I think Tesla may have already claimed my money. Seems like a deal

I'm seeing a lot of broke sneakerheads on facebook groups posting screenshots of their pre-order when I know damn well they can't afford the car. lots of these dudes just got a pre-order to stunt on iG then hitting that refund button ASAP. definitely interested in seeing more about the model 3, but that screen in the middle just looks weird.

With federal subsidies the car will cost as much as a high end scion so I think some of these kids will be able to save the down payment by late 2017. Model X's are still rolling out from pre-orders so I think people have lots of time. People ordering right now probably won't drive off the lot until 2018 sometime that's 2 years to save.

from what I'm reading those subsidies most likely won't be available by the time these fully roll out to all pre orderers. check the last page a couple NTers pointed out reasons why like the 200k cars sold and only being able to take full advantage of the tax credits if you have a high enough income.

Wouldn't surprise me if tesla manages to get some sort of extension for the subsidies since it's one of the major selling points

Well I work in solar in NYC and all the state tax credits on clean energy and vehicles ALWAYS get renewed. NYC is such a big poluter that we are literally giving away FREE solar on contract (they must agree to buy energy from our company for 20 years which is at a fixed rate 20-30% lower then their current rate) which is funded by a NYS tax credit. The NYS PPA program pays half of a 20k solar panel install and our investors pay whatever's left over after the federal. Cars are different but the tax credits are pretty hefty and they are here to stay in big cities. With Obamas new treaty on environmental change they may even increase. Clean cars and energy are BIG now that climate change is as CLEAR as day to the American public so your gonna see a Telsa that costs 20k 2021 and hybrid features will start to become mandatory gas will be a thing of the past in 20 years HOPEFULLY!

I just offered a simplified version, but that's all true.

I don't know where most people in California are making $60k though.

I don't think my boss even makes more than $40k.

Most people in the Bay Area prob make like $100K lol. And even with that we can't even afford a house here.

Can't go anywhere out here without seeing at least a dozen Model S's. Bay Area is going to be crawling with Model 3's.

I see a lot in Michigan especially richer areas. Ridiculous price for that car but if you can afford it.. Props

It's not worse for the car. It's that the Tesla chargers are superchargers. They fill up the battery from 0 to around 75% in 15 minutes. You don't want to always charge it at those rates. They are also meant to be used for traveling like road trips.

The nema 14-50 won't degrade the batter. You can set it up to charge at 1 amp up to 40 amps.

If you really need to charge faster you can buy the wall connector for $750 here: http://shop.teslamotors.com/collections/model-s-charging-adapters/products/high-power-wall-connector

With that you can charge at 80 amps compared to a supercharger which is something like 350+ amps.

I don't know if government will add more money for the federal tax credit.

Certain states might add more funds to their cash rebate (again this depends in which state you live, not all states give cash back)

Thought about preordering but I'll wait and see what kind of bugs we're working with.

Does tesla update their cars for model years? Will the one that people preorder now be the same as the one they deliver in 2018 or 19?

They've been saying that for years. Doubt it...Trust me
It's interesting whats happening I'm seeing more and more Teslas on the streets in my city, a house close to mine always has his charging in his driveway.

I feel like Tesla is on edge of taking over the streets. It's a sick car I want one haha.

What city you in? I see a decent amount of Teslas but not to where I can say it will be "take over status".

Toronto Canada. I've def seen a few more over the past few months I feel like the electric car thing is close to catching on.

Tesla vehicles are still missing some features and options that other high end automaker like BMW, Audi, Mercedes has

But over i like this company and hope they do well with this new model 3

I want to see more before I put in an order. If they are able to deliver by late 2017 it will be a miracle. I've got plenty of time to save up for the model 3

Tesla's are infinitely more prevalent in major cities. Seeing a lot in cities like LA, SF, Toronto, Seattle, etc, isn't a surprise.

The day they litter the streets in Iowa, we can talk about "taking over the streets."

Teslas are far from taking over the streets. Seeing 1 to 3 Teslas a day is nothing compared to the fact youre also seeing hundreds/thousands of other car models daily as well.

With that said i would definitely cop a Model 3 in a couple years. Gotta see how reliable the autopilot will be first.

the Model S is seen frequent along the CT shoreline areas...........

most people with money rather have an S Class around here
