Ok I have a 3.3 right now
and I am taking 18 hours currently I think I can pull an A in every class *B at the least* , but Chem lab the only class I`m concerned about and I think Imight cop a C in that but a B is VERY possible.

Ok the Chem Lab is a 4 hour class though, so and all of my other classes are all 3 or 1 hour so lets say this happens
1 hour class: A
1 hour class: A
3 Hour:B
3 Hour:B
3Hour:A
3Hour:A(or B)
4 Hour: C

my GPA would still increase a nice amount right or would that C being that it is a 4 hour just barely move it/null everything? I need a 3.5 to get on Deanslist, but of course I want higher then that.

I mean I just thought there was a simple way, cause I remember seeing some GPA post in the past on here.

All the Calculators and stuff I find got like B+ and crap are they that diff then a reg B? because on our transcripts they only show the regular Lettergrade.

1 hour class: A
1 hour class: A
3 Hour:B
3 Hour:B
3Hour:A
3Hour:A(or B)
4 Hour: C

With this you're not averaging a 3.5 just by looking at it.
You A's are coming from 1 hour classes which carry less weight than your 3 and 4 hour classes.
You school do weighted GPA's?

If that 3 hour class is an A then you'll end up with a 3.48 unweighted.

If it's weighted then you're prob. looking at a closer to 3 GPA.

To get my total GPA *I have a 3.3 currently* I'd have to do the math for all my courses attempted? or is there a way to avg out that prospective GPAfrom above to the 3.3 I already have, I`m sure that GPA up there wouldn't drop my 3.3 but it would barely move it right?

You can calculate in back2school.com or back2college.com...I don't know which one it is, but one of those sites have a GPA calculator

It ain't that difficult. Just average it out. There are only 7 grades.

Look at it this way.

If you get a 3.48 this semester and your overall is a 3.3 then your overall will climb. How much it will climb depends on how many credit hours comprisethat 3.3 overall as compared to the 18 credit hours that will net you a 3.48 . It will climb though, I wouldn't worry. Just try to get two A's in twoof the 3 hour classes and you should be set for a 3.5+ .

btw, your school have "-"'s and '+"'s like A- or B+.

naw we just do A,B,C,D,F

or at least from what I have seen

Assuming that last 3-credit class is an A, you're looking at a 3.22.

If it's a B, you're looking at a 3.06.

Think of it like a baseball batting average: if you're batting .300 after 350 at-bats, then going into a 5-for-50 slump won't kill youraverage, but if you hit that 5-for-50 slump after your sixth game...

Same with your GPA: your 3.3 won't move much if you've got a bunch of courses under your belt, but if this is your second or third semester thenit'll probably dip a bit.

Yeh it's not how you calculate a weighted GPA.

Reading the whole thread IS fundamental.

That's why I asked if his was weighted or not. If his GPA is not weighted then if he got 4 A's (4.0), 2 B's (3.0) and a C (2.0) then his GPAfor that semester would be a 3.42 . Or are you saying college's across the country are getting it wrong.
laugh.gif

In my school all 1 credit hour classes which were bs health and gym classeswere P/F no letter grade so no need for weighing.

If it's weighted, then yes there's a diff. way to calculate that because a A in a one credit hour class is not the same as an A in a 3 credit hourclass

yooooooooo peeped my Midterm grades so far and got a B in that 4 Hour Chem Lab WE IN THE HOOOOOOUSE!!!!!

just gotta keep that up and I`m good.

Wouldn't the only way my GPA would drop is if I got under a 3.3 like if I were to get a 3.1 it would basically stay the same/slip a little bit?

Yeh, basically right. Although even a .15 or .2 slip in GPA can hurt. It adds up over the semesters.

I'm not singling you out, but it amazes me how people in college don't know how to calculate their GPAs or current grade in a class.

yea thing is I`m trying to get my GPA up as much as possible for personal reasons.

But as long as I dont get anything lower then a B with some A's in the mix I should see some sort of Raise correct?

It really depends though, not the class grade because the syllabus should have it all laid out.

However, if a college does have weighted GPA's it can be hard to calculate a GPA. A lot of colleges use their own unique formulas depending on averagecredit hours taken, average credit hours per class, etc.

My university didn't have that though so it was easy to calculate. All we had were 4 credit hour classes which were letter grade and anything else, which was usually 1 credit hour was P/F.
