Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

My 5 yr old still crashes with us as well... Think he's goin to live with us forever

We let her sleep with us during summer break but school starts for her tomorrow so she goes back to her room...  My 9 month old has her crib but she always wakes up between 1-130am when she's there and me and my wife end up waking up and picking her up and she ends up sleeping on our bed...  When she sleeps on our bed, she sleeps through the night...  I'd rather not wake up every morning at 130 just so she ends up in our bed regardless...

About to start crib training
Scared ******** and really don't want to do it but trying to be a supportive partner and the lady really wants to
He's six months old and I can't imagine him not sleeping in the same room as me

Bout to be a tough week
That was one of the things I had to put my foot down on - wife wanted the baby in our room.  Once they were sleeping through most of the night, we threw them in the crib in their own room.

ANY alone time with the wife is appreciated, especially with a little one.

Man... my 3 year old still sleeps with us.

We had her falling asleep in her bed, but before my wife and i would go to bed she'd get my daughter and bring her to our bed.

i didn't stop her though, cuz the thought of her alone in her room just gave me the feels.... LOL

If it was up to my girl, our lil boy would be in our bed eveynight.

Daddy dont play that tho.

He might 'fall asleep' in our bed twice a week tho but we put him in his crib right after.

Side note- how you fellas tell your girl not to be gettin your lil boy stuffed animals? Everyone on my girls side buys him a dam stuffed animal. Her 11 yr ol bro still sleeps wit 2 of em. Its caused arguments cuz i tell her hes a boy he doesnt need teddy bears, she hits me wit thehes just a kid he wont like them forever. Yeah, onlyfor 11 yrs tho huh?

We're kicking that habit real quick. I used to offer to lay with him in his room for 10 minutes each night to help comfort him. Then I started falling asleep in there. Not, I'll lay with him for 3 minutes and tell him I'll come back in 20 minutes to check up on him. 9 times out of 10, he's out by the time we get back in there.

It makes it easier on everyone because it teaches him to be independent and it gives us our time without him. If he runs into our bedroom more than twice, we put the lock on until he falls asleep because it usually means he's just delaying going to bed and he's just going to get overly tired and we'll get frustrated which isn't good for anyone.

I promise myself and my lady, little momma will start off in the Bassinet.

Also is a pack-n-play important :nerd:

Also is a frig and a bottle warmer upstairs genius?
I thought those midnight runs downstairs would be brutal around 4am. :nerd:

We never used a bassinet.  We had a co sleeper that we use for our bed.

Pack n Play is good for down stairs when they are a bit older but once they start to crawl around, I used one of those play area gate and block of everything around the couch.

Breast Milk is where its at so we never had to use a bottle warmer upstairs...

Bassinets are coo for a month or so.

Pack n play are bad ***.
You can let em sleep.in em when they outgrow the bassinet for a lil bit and its always a good thing to have wit you if you travel.

Fridge and bottle warmer, good for certain things like beer in the fridge and warmer for warmin up the last bottle of the night, warm milk puts em to sleep quicker.

At first I had it like this...

Then it wasnt enough for her and she hates being enclosed like that so I made it like this...

PS: Yes my oldest watching Power Rangers

We got a pack n play that had a built in bassinet that attached up top.  Kids slept in that for a couple months or so right next to my wife's side of the bed so she could do quick middle of the night diaper changes and feedings.  Once the kids outgrew the bassinet, it was into the pack n play before moving them to their own rooms.  Then the pack n play was relegated to travel duty until my youngest finally outgrew it before turning 2.

My daughter outgrew the bassinet ina month..so its proly not even worth it.

We have a pack n play downstairs that she chills in all the time.
Also have one upstairs in our room that she currently sleeps in. Moving her to her crib soon.

As far as bottle warmers go..i literally never used mine. I would just bring a bottle upstairs with water already in it..and the formula ina dispenser and just male it when she woke up

Speaking of bassinets, my mom lined a drawer and that was my bed until I outgrew it

Beware if your little one likes to explore. We got 2 of those mats and everyday the letters were taken out and ALL over the place.
