The Boondocks Season 4 Adult Swim Bump

I have a bad feeling about this season. Aaron and Rodney not writing. Apparently the main writers are now females. :x :smh:

It just seems that this will be the last season of Seinfeld but worst. Lacking the subtle humor the string together the larger gags.

The Usher Burn episode was considered wack back in the day but was still better than this.

Thugnificent >>> flizzy.

The dude who voiced flizzy didnt have a good delivery
You know that was Michael B Jordan, right?

 This.

For those who haven't watched its up on adult swim. As far as the episode is concerned it was okay, crazy how blatant there celebrity references are. Animation is clean, and the argument tom and sarah had is too real.

Wow. Looking back at it, it kinda obvious.

Was the episode really bad or has it been so long and the expectations so high? honestly the episode was better after I re watched it, it's a good episode but shouldn't have been the season premier

It wasn't bad in any way. And yes expectations may have a little to do with it.

Bingo.

Nah brah. Been re-watching the Boondocks all of last week. The episode was off.

First it was the Usher episode theme all over again.

Second the episode's focus was on Tom, but he doesn't gain any new perspective, Sara does.

Third Flizzy was a horrible character.

So is this new season just a money grab?

I mean, what else could Mcgruder be busy with that he doesn't have time to focus on the show?

So everyone was abuzz when it was revealed that Aaron McGruder would not be returning to the fourth season of The Boondocks when it returns to the air on Adult Swim on April 21st.

People who love the show are fearing the worst, but is all lost? The Walking Dead lost co-creator Frank Darabont after the first season and it's held up very well. Then again, remember In Living Color and how it went straight into the toilet after the Wayans left?

But the question remains, why did McGruder decide the leave the show? There's been all kinds of speculation and theories, but finally McGruder himself has addressed the issue of his leaving on his Facebook page, which one could interpret as saying he has grown past the show and decided to move on. Or perhaps you'll feel differently.

As he said:

"As the world now knows, The Boondocks will be returning for a fourth season, but I will not be returning with it. I’d like to extend my gratitude to Sony and Adult Swim for three great seasons".

"I created The Boondocks two decades ago in college, did the daily comic for six years, and was showrunner on the animated series for the first three seasons. The Boondocks pretty much represents my life’s work to this point. Huey, Riley, and Granddad are not just property to me. They are my fictional blood relatives. Nothing is more painful than to leave them behind".

"To quote a great white man, 'Hollywood is a business'. And to quote another great white man, “Don’t hold grudges”.

"What has never been lost on me is the enormous responsibility that came with The Boondocks - particularly the television show and it’s relatively young audience. It was important to offend, but equally important to offend for the right reasons. For three seasons I personally navigated this show through the minefields of controversy. It was not perfect. And it definitely was not quick. But it was always done with a keen sense of duty, history, culture, and love. Anything less would have been simply unacceptable".

"As for me, I’m finally putting a life of controversy and troublemaking behind me with my upcoming Adult Swim show, BLACK JESUS".

well, there you have it.

Black Jesus, huh??

Um...Black Jesus

Aaron seemed like he was down to be the head writer and showrunner though. He just got forced out.

He was willing and able, but after **** went down, so he probably moved on to something else.

Episode was nothing to write home about. I hope they dont try to turn this into some weak black southpark with the celebrity stuff. Kinda doubt we will get any conciousness this season. Ill still watch but I expect just some haha funny things and nothing more out of the new writers. Maybe they will prove me wrong.

yall buggin...

episode was lulz... a pretty damb spot on.

Pretty boy flizzy: "i put that on my abs, my *****... on my ABS!"

he said some real stuff about doing stupid stuff to stay relevant...

newflash to my boondocks lovers: it aint gonna be the same. so instead of comparing it to the old, take it for what it is now and judge it based on that. comparing it to the older seasons is unfair because it was so revolutionary. we know what the show is about now, so now just look at it for what it is TODAY...

not in the shadow of the first and second seasons.

The boondocks was McGruders work of art, all it is in a company trying to make money off the fanbase.

Money grab? The season was announced years ago. We just never got a release date until now. Much of the subject matter of this season will likely be dated because of the layoff.

Yamb Gawd that GF of yours got you buggin.

Boondocks was solid for 3 seasons. They take away the major reason for it, and fans should just shut up and enjoy what they give us. :rolleyes

Fans of every shows complain when quality drops off. Just look at South Park.

I'm willing to give it a chance. But I'm not hopeful

Pretty funny. Wanted to see more of the family. This felt like a mid season episode opposed to a premier. Writing wasn't that much different, but you can tell they are trying to emulate Macgrudar, well see. They came with the Ls so I'm good.

I didn't hate the season opener, but I'm seeing posts taking about "I hope they/they should make fun of so and so" and it's depressing man, because this show and the series in general should be so much more than that. All we can do is sit back and see how it plays out now.

I hate "it won't be the same, just be glad you got anything" posts man  No shots at anyone, it's probably just because I have a hard time settling when it comes to most things in life. Like, why can't we ever want better?
