The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

IMO COD became garbage once they implemented quickscoping and glorified it. now people really believe its the point of the game and itd be lame without it. I say, if infinity ward and treyarch wanna cater to QSers so bad... give them their own lobby so they can stop doing it in all the objective based games. it really sucks. hit markers suck as well

KZ is interesting. Having no real load time is GREAT. ive wondered why that hasnt been implemented since the old cartridge days

^controls being improved and controls being good are two different things.
Cod's controls are baby butt smooth.
No other fps is touching cod in terms of controls.
Cod is one of the best selling fps, so idk how you can label it as garbage.
I strongly dislike battlefield, but I wouldn't label it was garbage.

For the 3 other people on here who like Knack. One of the Xbox guys at IGN previewed Knack and actually had a positive impression of it.

I agree about controls. Cod is easy for people to play once they already get the controller in their hands. Battlefield is fun but the controls feel iffy and not as smooth at times. Both are great in their own respects but I'm really hoping the DS4 will feel good as I play FPSs on it

because as we all know, sales dont determine anything but popularity. so its very possible for something garbage to sell alot. CODs controls are very easy, great. what does it have to do with the overblown single player stories (that a relatively small % of COD-players actually play) or the multitude of issues online? theres a reason the general consensus of COD's peak was about modern warfare 1 or 2....

COD will require 49GB for installation.

SO we have 40GB for Killzone, 49GB for COD and 50GB for 2K14.

:x :x for those going the all digital route.

Why COD is 49GB and Killzon is 40, I don't understand.

Also in the boxart you can see the icon for remote play under the HDD size :pimp:

Those hard drives are going to fill up quick. We're a long ways from truly being all digital.

To be fair, all games require full installation so it's going to take 49GB of space whether it's retail or digital. I'm just thinking about the downloads.
With Killzone you can start playing after downloading 7.5GB and from what they said it sounds like it will get smaller over time but it's still a lot to download

:x what about the folks with a big library of games.. Like homie jetpac

word. at only 500gb a hard drive and games are averaging between 40-50gigs... without ANYTHING else on the system, youd only have 10 games. but u already know the required software/bloatware will take up a few gigs along with the apps and stuff. so really, ull prolly only have 470-480gigs to work with out of the box.... SMH!!!!! that planned obsolescence is no joke. we need terabyte harddrives!

christmas 2014 :nerd:

That option to upgrade the hard drive is going to be a life saver this coming generation. Even for the current generation I was using up a lot of space. Especially after downloading free games from PS+.

whats this i hear about the sticks not being click-able.  no L3 or R3?

I never heard that, but I heard that the face buttons on current and previous controllers are analog, but they're going to make them digital on the DualShock 4. The face buttons had some pressure sensitivity that very few games made use of. Maybe GTA on the PS2. MGS4 and Gran Turismo on the PS3. As far as I know, L3 and R3 still exist.

will be swapping the 500 GB HD in the PS4 with the 1TB in my PS3 if possible

PS4 will support 1.5TB SATA replacement drive
Good news, PlayStation tinkerers! Not only will you be able to easily pull apart your console to fit in a replacement hard drive, the size of said drive has increased from 9.5 millimetres to 12.5 millimetres.

The news comes by way of German website Computer Bild, which got its hands on, and in, a developer console. It seems Sony is continuing its tradition of allowing customers to modify their consoles, with an easily removable and replaceable hard drive.

Like the PS3 before it, the PS4's drive can be replaced with a 2.5-inch SATA drive, but the height of drives that will fit inside a PS3 is 9.5 millimetres. Admittedly, 9.5-millimetre 1.5TB drives started hitting the market just a couple of months ago, but the height increase in the PS4 means that the machine is primed for when drive manufacturers manage to squeeze more space into the 12.5-millimetre form factor.

The drive dock is also fitted with Phillips-head screws, meaning that you don't need a fancy screwdriver to take it out.

Hopefully tech will get better for 2TB hard drives to come out but 1.5 TB is sufficient

^ yeah i don't know what my brother was talking about.  I was like how are we gonna sprint in FPS... I didn't believe him

What gets me is what's the point of even buying the games on disc if you still have to install? You might as well download (which I'm sure they probably want us to do anyway) and save the trip/time. I've always like the idea of having a physical disc rather than a download but if they're essentially both gonna end up eating up HD space what's the purpose?

you can buy used, you can resell.

I sell a lot of old games or games that I buy and don't like.. So I'll stick to physical copies of the games

I'm doing physical copies because I live with a few people in a house and don't wanna hog the bandwidth downloading 40gb and 50 gb games...
