The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

It's all good man.

If it's cool. I just want to know how PS1/PS2 classics will look. If they're upscaled nicely. There's some old games I never owned that I would love to play again on my PS4.

:\

Just don't want you to end up getting banned since people from Sony do read this thread. There's going to be plenty of other people breaking their NDA's on the net that people can look at.

:x Didn't know NT had reach like that. Wow. Good info. No wonder I got banned multiple times back during my Xbox 360 days

I may or may not have reported you for modding.

Nah I didn't

This thread (and the previous threads) have sparked a lot of discussion from people I know. I know rule #1 of NT but this community has a very unique viewpoint so I've passed it along and continue to mention it and pass it along to friends in the industry. I've got a family member who's an editor at IGN who pokes around on here. My friends within the industry, superiors, and community people read this thread regularly.

The reason why this thread is interesting is because people aren't on NT specifically for video game related conversations or news, so the discussions and feedback on here are taken and categorized in a totally different manner.

Have to wait until May? Seriously.

Since they read this thread, tell them boys at Sony, that **** is a ******* paperweight. Have to wait another month for Infamous before the games start rolling in.

NEW LEGEND OF DRAGOON, WILD ARMS, GRANDIA, AND THROW MONEY AT SE FOR A NEW TACTICS. KILL WHOEVER YOU HAVE TO.

Tactics is DEAD. Shed a tear if you must. Square doesn't want to deal with Matsuno anymore.

The spiritual successor to tactics is close to being (fully) (semi) (kinda) funded:

I myself am weary of this because the developers keep changing their stretch funding goals and Matsuno himself won't come out and say it's HIS game and detail his exact involvement.

He's right. You'd be suprised how many different people lurk around here... :nerd:

Everybody that made Square who they are (or were) is leaving, aleast they still have Nomura. But what's up with this ? http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02/13/final-fantasy-15-quite-far-into-development is it almost time for new info ?

can u explain a lil bit of what u mean by that as related to ur fellow video game coworkers

So I told my girl to watch me stream Outlast since we're snowed in, she didn't last 10min lol.
Atleast you got 10 mins, my wife won't even attempt to watch me play

Hi people from Sony! I am very excited for what you have in store for the PS4 / Vita / and PS Now in the future and beyond.

It's all a game within a game to help better make a game.

Without getting disgustingly specific I and others (you'll especially see this in marketing) use what we call "Personas" which is basically a fictional character that we assign traits to for a specific market subset. These personas represent the user/customer base and we use them to tailor our work since we're developing with a player centered approach.

When doing the data mining for these personas we've found it very helpful to assign quotes from posts or interviews to various personas. So we might take a quote from Bad Religion Bad Religion and attribute it to "Jacque" our White, Male, Canadian, Hockey loving, RPG centric gamer. These persona's are treated as a living entity that evolve with player feedback and market change.

When I talk about NT being a different and good place to get discussions and opinions from it's because as I said people aren't here for video game news directly. You might prefer to discuss your gaming and news here but NT is a site about sneakers and that's what originally brought you here. So the community here can give you a bigger picture of your player base than somewhere like Kotaku or a publisher/game specific message board where you can only assume that people are basement dwelling weaboos and take their opinions as such. While I feel NT in general is overly generalized in categorization at the top level (For example, years ago I actually heard during a meeting "We need to get this Niketalk market share do what you need to do to get these ads running to the urban population") I think that there is a wealth of great, diverse, and viable opinions that come out of this community.

Here you can drill down deep and get into a whole bunch of cross post referencing to see what the player-base is involved in. That's all for the community and information research people to do. Take @ddouble who is a categorized (I'm not saying this is 100% fact) as a Sony loyalist, who is in the European market (British?), is a minority, technology versed, interested in fitness (running), interested in F1 racing, an avid soccer fan, and doesn't give a **** about Zelda.

Having that kind of data to add into your persona's or to get very specific when talking to investors is a great thing to have.

repped thanks for the explanation

quick question though
have u ever been one of the people who used a "persona" here on nt
or do u just keep it strictly personal here as in just coming to share as a normal member without an agenda without mixing it with business
my bad if it sounds rude or i offend u
but just reading that got me curious
i always value ur opinion
and like ur info that u give so hope u dont take it wrong

Nah man. I'm me here on NT, not anyone else. If anything my GAF account is a persona. All business over there.

I was on NT before I got into the industry and I'm happy to share my personal opinions and struggles about anything on this board. But with that comes the responsibility to make sure that nothing comes back on me, my studio, publisher, or investors.

I've got lots of love for Nintendo, as Zelda is probably my favorite franchise. However, I have a lot of VERY strong opinions about Nintendo and I can't go around expressing those. Years back I had a nice long rant about them on NT and it became a problem at work.

I've also honestly never worked on a Nintendo title or port directly so my technical background knowledge with their internals is 0.

I think they look pretty dope, I just don't see myself using them for some reason. It takes away the camera functionality, so maybe if it didn't I would. Speaking of which, is there any news of Skype coming to PS4? There's Skype on the Vita if I'm correct.

If people from Sony are reading this, they need to figure out how to get Monster Hunter back. I'm about to buy a 3ds just to play MH3U and MH4U coming next year.

PS4 doubled Xbox One sales in January. Honestly surprised with that. Will be the PS2 era for Sony all over again if they keep this up.
