Just got my ps4 recently and trying to get the hang of everything. What exactly is the PS app used for and is it worth having?

Personally, I use it to add friends, see who's online and as a second keyboard when I'm on my PS4, makes typing messages faster.

IMO, no. It just redirects you to the $ony site.
Most of the things the app does can be done on the $ony site.

Everyone (7 friends) who were on and updated their PS4 with 2.0 now cannot play any game online.

I updated this morning before work and signed back in no problem. Didn't have time to play anything but I'll find out when I get home.

Just wanted to point out that the video is composed of real footage captured during an online multiplayer session on PC. Defintely not CGI.
Ed, one of the trailer guys (a community member) starts off going off the track and then he has the Freecam mode (on PC) enabled. Then, you have a lot of community members joining in the session to drive around. I think this particular session saw around 50 drivers (not sure, didn't take part in this one -they started around 3 am local time 
). It takes quite a while to shoot, and quite a bit longer to edit. The result is just

How are the connections? I downloaded 2.0 before I went to work but I couldn't sign onto PSN. I read that this was an issue. Anyone have any experience so far?

The PS app looks sooo much better on my iPad now. It basically looks like the PS4 home screen. It's also way more stable, I haven't really noticed any lag at all.
The PS store and Live From Playstation streams still don't open natively though

Had no problems updating or playing online. My issue was when I plugged in my external it said that my file wasn't supported (or something to that effect). Does it have to be a thumbstick? I was really hoping to get folders. I seen now it only shows your 15 most used apps but I was really hoping to get some more organization. Hopefully next time.
