The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

It's raining all day today, ruining all plans. Thinking of starting Metal Gear: Rising, it's been sitting in my backlog for a while now.
If you think UC was mindless fun.....

I enjoyed MGR though.

You're saying one thing(UC is generic, etc), then saying the opposite(it's a great game, etc).
Make up your mind.
Yeah he's confusing me with that  first he says it's generic and then say he likes it and can't wait for the next one but whatever I just don't see what he is seeing when it comes to UC franchise

Facepalm. I'm agreeing with your points on what Uncharted gets right : the voice acting, soundtrack and the graphics, but standing by on what I think makes the game generic and bad. You're really gonna tell me the characters, gameplay and the story line are original? It's not. You don't have to blindly praise a game like it's the best thing ever in order to like a game and if you point out some flaws it doesn't mean you hate or dislike the game. Geez...You're still alright though.

Overall, I think it's a high tier dumb fun game but overall it's a little above average.

I'm looking for mindless fun right now, tired of story driven games at the moment. MGR is made by Platinum though so I'm expecting high quality action game play.

I never said that the characters, gameplay, and story were original. Nor was I blindly praising it.
How can a game be great, but also generic overall?

Makes no sense.

Dude, just stop. I know it's a slow 4th of July. You're just trying to argue for the sake of it, it's okay that I have a different opinion than you.

It makes perfect sense. How are stupid summer blockbusters great?

You agree with me that it isn't original and you like the game. There you go, it's still a fun game to play. This is now my 4th time explaining this to you. Stop being so arrogant.

It is a pulp action game. I think you're over simplifying the game. You can die while platforming in lots of parts. The only parts "on rails" are when the games have those parts like when you're in a gun fight on a moving train. No pun intended, but even then you still move around cover and control your movements like any other level.

The environments are pretty open ended for the most part. There's multiple ways to go about them. The puzzles aren't that difficult, but they're not that obvious. You at least need to look at the journal and make certain observations. If I wanted a game with the most challenging puzzles, I would buy a puzzle game. They're mostly there to break up the action and platforming.

Aren't you the guy who spent 10 pages arguing about how console gaming is inferior to PC gaming?

"Read before jumping to conclusions man."

Me saying "I never said that the characters, gameplay, and story were original. Nor was I blindly praising it." doesn't mean that I agree with you "that it isn't original."

It's weird that you're saying I'm being arrogant given how much you've been exaggerating your opinions.

Examples: Your opinion on the shooting, puzzles, and platforming.

This point of my discussion with you was to see your point of view on the game.

You're being overly critical. You started talking about Drake's clothes...his clothes.

Who pays attention to that?

gta v is grand in scale, but man is it boring.

I've had the game for like a year, I've barely unlocked Trevor.

The last of us has a great story, but the gameplay was sluggish.

Already sold it.

MGS...

Eh I don't like gta V much either. It was okay but too me that game is the definition of overhyped. I lost interest in it quickly there wasn't much to do in the multiplayer but I did like racing

I've been holding off on just playing the game strictly with cheat codes on and doing what the .... I want.

That's mainly how I play gta games.

Back when I believed that entering my email into a site meant a free 360, I had to restart my entire playthrough of gta4.

I was flying my heli to the 2nd-to-last mission right before you "meet" dimitri, then I get signed out.

A message pops up "this account has been signed in an another console." FUUUUU

Replaying gta4 was torture.

yeah I tried playing gta4 before our of boredom and I didn't enjoy it much but fwiw at the time i loved it. Hopefully when gta5 comes out on X1 and PS4 we can do everything like robbing banks from the start instead of waiting for R* to add it over time I think that's what killed the game for me

I remember gta4 being fun, but the stiffness of nico made me realize how far games have come.

I got caught in the gtav hype as well.

I felt like Read Dead Redemption had a lot more stiffness then gta4 like when I would vault/jump over something it just felt clunky compared to gta4 which felt much smoother

From what little I've played of rdr, you're right.

Towerfall is free now :frown: I paid 15 back in April.

Prolly the most game I played on this weak system. I love sony and play station is awesome but the lack of anything worthwhile on ps4 is killing me.

My first playstation game ever was twisted metal 2 back in the day, my sister and her husband had it and made me wanna buy a PS, so my parents got me one n I played the hell out of that game.
