2014 Audi A3 Sedan - RS3 coming to the US

RS3 coming to the US as a sedan!

Audi of America CEO Scott Keogh has announced that the RS3 high-performance compact car and the Q8 SUV will be sold in the United States.

Keogh said the Audi RS3 sedan would be the best fit for the United States, although such a variant doesn’t exist yet.

In Europe, the RS3 is currently available exclusively as a five-door hatchback, powered by a 362hp (367PS) 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine which allows it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds.

The Audi A3 lineup in the US currently consists of the A3 sedan, sporty S3 sedan and the A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid five-door hatchback.

“We really, really want the RS 3,” Keogh was quoted as saying by Automotive News, adding that the sedan is would be a great halo car. “I’m very confident we’ll see that car in the market. That’s as far as I’m going to go,” Keogh said.

I was a given an A3 as a loner and wasn't crazy about it

an S3 or an RS3 would seem great but I would rather just cop an S5 at those prices that it commands

That body looks sleek...Lower it a lil and the right set of wheels.

To be fair the A3 is their entry level US vehicle, it isn't going to snap your head back (the 1.8 only has 170hp). I think it is still better than the the CLA andthe RS3 will likely be a better option than the CLA45 too and be a good alternative to the 235M (maybe even the 335i?).

Given a choice of those mentioned, it'll be a toss up between the S3 or 235M and it will all fall whether I want a sedan or coupe but I think the S3 looks much better.

I didn't mean from a power standpoint, the ride just seemed really stiff to me

It's not cancelled, it just isn't coming to the US.

Americans hates wagons and hatchbacks. :smh: :x

To be honest though, the RS3 Sportback doesn't have the best shape/silhouette, still cool but there are better looking ones for sure.

....cars keep getting smaller and smaller, price keeps going up.

Cars actually keeps getting bigger so they have to make new smaller cars/vehicles as an entry level vehicle at a cheaper price.

That looks dope.

Which ones would you consider to be better looking? I can't even name any sport wagons I like off the top of my head

I can't even name a single sport wagon that is sold on America besides the E-class... And that bums me out...

I still actually consider that RS6 as a hatch than a wagon, the RS6 Avant would be the station wagon.

To be honest though, I love hatches but wagons is a bit much for me, there are maybe a handful that I truly like.

Maybe my favorite at the moment if I had to choose would be the Ferrari FF with it's weird and unusual wagon-esque look.

If you don't consider that a true wagon then I think the CLS63 Shooting Brake would be my second choice though it's probably a toss up between the RS6 Avant and the following...

I kind of dig the XFR-S Sportbrake too...

And the V60 Polestars kind of cool though that rear lights are always a love and hate with me...

There are lots of cheaper wagons that looks decent too in Europe from Renault, Toyota, VW, Mazda and even Hyundai.

But I remember the old Lexus IS300 Sportcross and Mazda Protege5, I loved those when I was younger.

For an American sportwagon, I kind of liked the CTSV wagon for a hot second there but I kind of got tired of it quick.
