Lebron James Is Ruining The Game For The Average Fan

I really was gonna reply then I realized that homie said a Triple Double in the playoffs just don't do it for him anymore

Like some individuals are echoing, this thread is ridiculous. First off you arbitrarily state LeBron is ruining the game of basketball for the average fan with absolutely no supporting information. Then you go into a rant about how LeBron's greatness is boring and spew nonsense about how he doesn't have memorable games.

The facts are:
Heat games are the biggest draw in the league and have the highest ratings.
LeBron's value to the NBA is higher than any other player in the league.
The NBA continues to be successful because of talent like LeBron James

LeBron and his brand is not ruining the game; it is enhancing the game Worldwide. LeBron is a global icon and we as basketball fans should feel lucky to be witnessing history as we watch him play. You may not like him, but at least respect what he has done for the game of basketball.

I do agree that he is definitely not ruining the game by any means and he has plenty of moments. I was just coming from me personally watching the NBA and how I feel. As I said it speaks to how good he is

Im a huge nba fan and lebron ruins the nba for me because of the way the media and everyone protects him! Its clear that he flops but they will never call him out on it! if you watch his flop highlights the annoucers act like they didnt see it or try to cover for him! You cant tell me king flop didnt flop once this year but yet he has no fines or warnings!!!! Plus all the extra stuff he does, he isnt the only player guilty of this, but every miss isnt a foul or if you get beat dont look down at your elbow or fix your head band man, just play!!! Dont try to sell me the fakest player in the league, you cant be great if you cant even be yourself!!! Thats why kobe took so long to be loved by the masses, he was trying to hard to be something he wasnt!

A little off topic? Just saw this on Dime. I mean he can pretty much do it... he does shoot 50% from the field. The 40 and 90... that I'm not so sure. Maybe he can. Who knows?

Every game is a career game for him. Every player in the league would get interviewed after a 25/8/8 game but when Lebron does it every game he's just clocking in and clocking out. He has to get 40/15/10 for it to be 'memorable'

Judging from your statement, it seems that it's the media and everyone who protects Bron that are the ones that's ruining the NBA for you.

i agree i wouldnt put it all on lebron but he plays a huge factor!! Oh well it makes it better when you have someone to hate!! Cant like em all!

He had more respect from me when he was in Cleveland than he gets from me now I dont like Miami because randomly when the "big three" got together EVERYBODY all of a sudden became heat fans and I have a strong dislike for people that jump on band wagons. Yes I know they had fans before but now you got ppl from random places thats screaming they heat fans and to me thats ONLY cuz bron there. Be a bron fan if that's the case
See this is just blind hate.. u hate LeBron because there are bandwagon fans?
Miami fans should not judge the way you look at a player

Based on the OP's title, I would say the average fan is now watching basketball more. When the Heat go to Charlotte or wherever the fan base isn't strong, I'm sure there's a spike in ticket sales for that game. I don't have the numbers to back it up but I'm almost positive that's the case. More people are going to games because of him. If you want to bring up the TV ratings for the Finals, I think fans are already expecting Miami to win so less people tune in.

He's certainly got much more exposure since going to Miami and that's the benefit of playing in a big market city. My interest in the NBA had been fading since the mid-2000's because of the level of competition and never watched any NBA games other than Knicks games. I find myself tuning into Heat games just to hope I'd catch a glimpse of what a bad Bron game looks like because it's now more reasonable to expect a 24-8-8 night from him every night.

True, his signing with Miami has made everything he does on the court seem so ordinary. He did ***** out in The Decision but I don't blame him for wanting to play with his boys one bit. It just so happens that his boys were also top-tier players. Son was still a beast in Cleveland nonetheless and up until The Decision, we were all witnesses. If we had witnessed him bringing a title to Cleveland, like it was said before, it would've equate to Jordan's 5.

He was cool up until the whole miami/superfriends thing. Amazing player but no one can ever change my opinion of how he made a left up easy street. Still great player tho

sooo in your opinion what should he have done stayed in cleveland and not won ****?

I hate this ******** argument "oh he took the easy way out" how?

he made a wise move and linked up with better players

is the goal not to have as talented a team as possible?

Thread is silly and I'm a Kobe guy. Only problem is ESPN brainwashing people to think no one else matters but Lebron. They simply do that because they were 1st covering him and if he becomes all time top 5, they put a feather in their cap so say to the world, "We told you."

Other issues are this fake tough guy stuff he does then runs to the refs after flopping.

Never gets called for a foul, Mike was on the verge of fouling out several times in his career yet Lebron can go a month without one call.

He believed he was King and people should witness him before winning anything.

Still with 1 title he doesn't rank top 5 but yet after 1 people began the "rings don't matter" nonsense.

Name 5 plays or games?
Did dis dude just said dis?

Detroit series when he was with the Cavs in ECF

3 point Buzzer Beater vs the Magic to win by 1 in the playoffs when he was with the Cavs

Making KG his step son vs Boston in the playoffs when they were down a game when he was with the Cavs

Beasting on the Kings in his first game in the L when he was with the Cavs

Thats just 4 off the top of my head when he was with the Cavs...

I'll throw in last year when he jumped clear over top that dude on the bulls with the Ally...

I didn't eem look through pages to see what others said and I'm no Heat fan.  But to say he doesn't have memorable plays/moments/games is a Quote of the Year candidate.

you guys are taking OP's view the wrong way.

bron is out there making the game look EASY. his crazy games of going 30+ 8+ rebounds 8+ assists are almost expected of him. even when dude puts up solid numbers, they're quiet numbers. like, you watch the game and don't realize that at the end of it he has 25 points 12 rebounds 7 assists. you look at the box score and say "dang i didn't realize he did all that throughout the course of the game". dude's triple doubles almost seem like a regular feat for him. remember when they used to happen less frequent and it was a BIG deal when they happened? let alone in the playoffs?

put it like this, remember the year in baseball (just a couple years ago) when multiple people threw no hitters in the season? the feat seemed less impressive, right?

that is what bron's individual greatness is doing to the casual fan. he is the standard now. his GREATNESS is desensitizing how great other players can be in their own right.

Did you not watch Bron's memorable comeback against the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals in 07?!

Sheesh.
One of the best games I have ever watched live in my life
All this.  Probably never forget coming home from work that night and turning on the game ASAP to see what was up, and Bron was taking over that B****.

Did he yam right in Sheed's face in that game or was that a different game in the series?

As a Lebron hater since i used to watch him in hs on espn allow me to say he is very exciting to watch. The fact that he is so much more physically dominant than anyone he is up against i can see how you might want say he is not exciting or ruining the game but when you have times like the mavs beating the heat 2 years ago or ny beating them in the season opener this year after the hurricane ran thru ny how can you not be excited? If that was the bobcats who would watch the game? People come out to see the heat lose because they are such a great team. You wanna see your team play the best not lebron and 4 others. Lebron is a great player and he will have a great career but to say he isnt exciting you are missing the point of the game. Be a fan of the game first then team then player. Dont let you (kobe, melo, jordan,KD, etc ) shades blind you from greatness.

LeBron will never, ever be a 90 percent free throw shooter. I'll guarantee that much. He's rarely improved in 10 years. Good that he's aiming for it tho. He can reach the 80's.

As for LeBrons game, I think it's beautiful. I appreciated his greatness since he came into the league. Far from boring.

But I still think he's a whimp for going to Miami. Yes LeBron needed help to win a championship but the man didn't need that much help to go out and take payouts and create a super team. I think he sort of underestimated how great he was.

If he had stayed in Cleveland and won a chip, or multiple ones - he'd be just as loved as Jordan was during his prime. Everyone (besides Kobe Stan's) liked LeBron before 2010. I respect his decision, but I respect my decision for thinking he's a whimp as well.
