Seriously

I see a lot of people jumping ship from Canon to Nikon and vice versa but one that has cought my eyes is the D700 ..

WTH does that camera has that everyone seems to love it?

I'm actually thinking about buying it with some lens that are = to the L lens which I dont know what they are .. but GUYS let me know!

i think the lenses you are talking about are considered FX lenses. my friend just got his, and i am jealous. off the top of my head, these are things that aregreat:
full frame
excellent iso rating. cant see to much noise at 800 and pretty minimal at 1600
live view
virtual horizon
7-8 fps. i forget
it does use a CF card, but i dont think it has two CF slots
i dont like it's weight, that beast is heavy, but its super fast and versatile

he just got a 70-200mm 2.8. when i play with it, i'll let you know what those shots look like.

ak I rented lenses before .. I only did it beause I thought I will never use that lens again and I was wrong .. I ended up buying it .. no problem whats soever ....

I think I might just go with the MK II .. lets see ...

I need to get out and shoot for real .. cant wait for my gear to get back from Canon .. the classic 5D is a dust magnet .. ugh

I really like this one, how it contrasts the background

... seriously I don't know what people love about the D700 either.. I neverreally read the specs tho so I can't comment... one thing I don't get is why are Nikon heads in love with the D300?

NIKON USERS- I really need a carry around zoom with VR, anyone have anything bad/ good to say about the 18-105mm VR? Or another good walk around zoom w/ VR youcan recommend? Thank you!

for walking around the city the only thing i ever use is a 50mm 1.8, like the old school photojournalists.

I've never heard anything bad about a VR lens. In fact, when I dropped my girl's camera and the lens came off in NYC this summer and wentto a camera shop to talk to the guy about replacing the mirror in the body because it had a scratch on it. He straight up told me (never met dude in my life)that I would "Be a b*tch if I didn't replace the 18-55 with the 18-55 VR". He specifically recommended getting rid of the trash 55-200 kit lensand getting the 55-200 VR. I considered bidding on the 18-105 VR on eBay the other day because I always wish I had more than 55mm at the high end, but neverneeded the whole 200mm end of the other lens.

the 18-105mm VR doesn't seem too bad, the price isn't bad either.. alot of reviews I've read say if you are going to get the 18-105mm VR you mightas well get the 18-200mm VR, but the price is too much, the weight is too much, and i don't need that extra 100mm for walking around..

man all this talk about a 5d makes me eager to get mine. i just bought my first L lens and im in love with it... all the more reason to lean towards the mark.im waiting until my 21st bday to cop, end of this year. man.. the HD video with the autofocus is soooo sick. i use my friends 5d often and i love it.

For the dude asking about the 18-105mm nikkor, it's a great lens! I got it for 200 on ebay couple months ago & haven't taken it off my d40x since.Probably getting that 35mm f/1.8 soon tho!

I recently changed from a DSLR to a compact and also changed the way I look at a picture a bit.

Thanks!
i will just reply here =)

i really like the "walk and talk" and "lonely at the top" pictures, they belong in a series and do a great job of bringing creativity to something very normal and everyday, which is one of the main reasons i started taking photos in the first place! really brilliant for a modern photography piece, in my opinion. modern photography is imagination without technique, so yours fits well in this category (not that your technique is not good, but these photos are not about technique but the idea you put behind them).

you kinda went crazy with a few HDR's there, but i guess everyone is like that at first, even myself

i also really like the biker guy at the beginning of your photostream. reminds me of early 20th century PJ!
Thanks for your comments man!

I am tired of all the focus on technique when it comes to photography.

The HDRs are just for fun. (I kind of like the ones I posted anyway but it's not that serious
wink.gif
). I think digital photography is as much postprocess as itis actually taking photos, you need to be just at good at both to get a good result.

The biker is a friend who always is down for some posing.. panning came out quite ok on that one.

Sup_

Abes of Maine is very legit.

Bought from them before. Use FRIEND10 and get $10 off.

Peace.

To answer my own qestion.. and for anyone else who may have been wondering.. I called B&H and they said the white box is taken from a kit. Simple enough..

btw... FS: NIKON 18-55 kit lens.. PM me if interested..

and i stumbled upon this... thought some others still learning like me might find it interesting
