x2 for the price ($200) this lens cant be beat - if you have money then 70-200 f/2.8 L or f/4 L then go for it .. but you will be paying 5 - 10xtime more than the nifty fifty two

Leaning toward Nikon??? You have no idea what you'll be missing out on man.

Haha! Camera war thing is funny. It's still such a toss up with me. I actually really like Nikon DSLRs but I haven't used enough different type ofmodel cameras to know which one I think is better. I mean my Nikon is better then my XTi but that is a given considering mine is in a different league. Ireally want to try the 40D and 50D but I swear, some places get really weirded out by people touching their cameras. I went to Wolfs camera to look atsomething and the lady there wouldn't let me comfortably look at anything for nothing.......

And this will kind of be a odd statement, but after looking at this photo it kind of reminded me of it. Does anyone get all weird when someone next to youhas a bigger/better camera? I would carry my XTi everywhere and when I would be next to someone that has a better camera with a bigger lens, I would seriouslyfeel like I am some novice rookie photographer. Now that I have a D90, I feel like I have more of a sense of pride and confidence now where ever I go(....alright let me drop the no-+!!# word just in case). I just think its funny regardless since homeboy with the Nikon has a big lens doesn't have thegirth of the Canon guy......haha!

^ Fong I know what you mean man...I have a D40 and I feel like a total n00bcakes walking around Tokyo.

I was on a train once looking at some of the pictures that i took with my 18-200mm lens and some dude with a D700 sat next to me carrying a million dollar homeand a nikon case for some kind of humongous @%# lens. He started talking about taking pictures blah blah...visit this garden...this shrine...and he comes andtell me he was an amature/rookie baseball photographer in japan.

me: uhhmmm i take pictures for fun and *post them on NT* (I didnt really say i post them on NT)

I felt like a real noob.

Rap Sizzle- I got the 5dMKII and just love it. The screen is amazing and the live with the video option is just an added bonus. I was going to get the 1DMKIII but i decided to get the 5d because of the better ISO quality also i mostly shoot fashion/ports. so i decided i didnt need the extra FPS. Here is thefirst shoot i did with the 5D. Sorry for the bad quality upload.

I just got a n6006 (hand-me down)...does anybody else shoot wit this OG?!? lol
I think its from the 90s...and I was thinking about getting some new lenses ..hopefully a fish eye first...anybody have any suggestions?

soo follow up the nikon v canon war i started.. i went to circuit city and both the d40x and xti were sold out... so dissapointed...

how is it the d40x is on clearance but the d40 isn't?

anyways back to the hunt for a good deal for a starter dSLR...

For the guys wanting to buy a DSLR right now, I would recommend waiting until Mid February, Early march. There are already rumors flying around of a Nikon D65,and a Canon Rebel TSi, that way, when the new cameras are announced at PMA, you wont regret it. The TSi is rumored to be announced late January.

WARNING!! The D90s Rumor is a RUMOR... Not confirmed in any way shape orform!

The D65 is also a rumor, but said to be from a more credible source.

The TSi, also a rumor, but its got to happen eventually. They get re-launched every 12-18months.
Nikon D90s and Nikon D65
Last week someone posted a picture of Nikon D90s to one of the posts (obviously fake, but still entertaining - if they had gone with D900 instead, it would look much better):I also got some specs for a potential Nikon D65 (nothing reliable at that point, but we all know something similar is coming soon):
- 12mp CMOS
- 3fps
- 9 AF-points CAM 850, 1 Cross type
- 720p video
- Live view
- Dust reduction
- PMA 2009 release

I do find the name D65 plausible - there was already a Nikon F65 model.

New Rebel in January?
Received an anonymous email about January 28th being the day the new Rebel is announced.

I'm still thinking it'll be sometime in February.

i don't mind waiting but won't new cameras be a @*%+ load more than something out now and for a complete newb like me.. will those be more advancedmodels aka something i should avoid for now?

The TSi is basically the new XSi, the D65 would be the new D60. They're both starter cameras.

Nice photos man. After looking at some low-light photos posted by 5D Mark II users, I'm pretty much convinced that 5D Mark II is the perfectfit for me. It just sucks that I have to find another deal for an EF 85 f/1.2L II. Dude I bought it from mailed itwithout insurance and USPS lost it. Sucks for him, that's $1500 he just lost. I get my money back since Google Checkout needs to verify that I received theitem.

Where did you get your Mk II from btw? I'm waiting for Adorama to stock up

In no offense to Nikon users at all...but isn't the Nikon's method of naming their models kind of dumb? What do they after the D90s? D90h??? UnlikeCanon, they left no room in terms of numbers for future models. It would be funny if they start doing D91, D92 and etc. Same goes for the D40/D60 (I still findit funny how a D50 was released before a D40) and D300 route. At least Canon uses "marks" to identify the generation of some of its products.

True, it is weird. you still have a D90x, D90s, to fill some space, but I don't understand it either. There has to be a reason why they do itlike that.

Rap Sizzle- Thanks for the compliment. I got my 5dmkII from a Penn camera's. The people who work there know me pretty well so they held 1 for me andcopped. I got the 24-105MM F4L with it also.

Aren't BMWs like that? Like they bring out a number and then when they have a new car, the number might lower then the new number. I mean it is a nameafter all and that isn't something that I would be too interested in. I actually like the number route more then the letter one but that is just me......

Correct me if I am wrong but i think the reason why the D40X is on clearance is because it is a discontinued model. (D60 replaced the D40X)
I think you might want to check Adorama, B&H, Ritz Camera, and J&R . Personally I like Adorama and Ritz they usually have pretty gooddeals.

On another note...(Nikon users) So I don't think I can wait anymore...but im still confused between the D90 and D200. But something is telling me that Ishould just save up and copp the D300. damn it.

Or should I just stick out with the D40 and buy lenses. I think I've mentioned it before that I was gonna buy the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 wide angle lens andthe Sigma 30mm f/2. So either 2 lenses or a new camera body.

And Istill want the Bogen-Manfrotto tripod + head.

I dont know what to do...I just dont want to do anything that I will regret. that's a lot of money.

Hey Santi, you bought a book last week or so ago, just wanted to know if it was good? Did you learn anything from it or have you even read it?
