Google "gray card white balance". Note that this is only useful if you'll be shooting multiple shots under the same light source. Ialways shoot RAW with auto WB and just adjust it in post-processing.

Oh and I have a whole new set of gear coming in that's gonna blow my previous pickups away

just got my D60. this is downtown LA shot from Eagle Rock (if any of you are familiar). just a hand held shot around 5:30pm

suggestions anyone?

Just messing around last night in the freezing cold ..
Some regular bridge pictures and then a slightly different pose but done in HDR ..

First two are regular pictures

I have better composed pictures in the same angle but I choose this one to show what RAP Siz mention a page back or so .. I didn't take the filter off thelens and I had mayor ghosting around the lights toward the middle and right .. just look closely and you be able to see and I fix a bunch - but obviously if Iwould of have taken the filter off for that long exposure - that would of have been avoided ..

I like this picture with what I took out - but unless you was told or look at it closely you wouldn't know what I did ... So i left it unfinished and ruffso you can see what a good clone or patch can do .. look underneath the right side of the bridge you can see some branches .. they were a little distracting soI took them off .. just go to show what you can do with some good PS skills (Mines are not those) ..

as soon as this cold weather passes and it warms back up to the 30s/40s ima go out n take some more pics

Santi, I was looking through your photos in your Flickr and one of your photos caught my eye. I checked the EXIF data and saw that you used f/5.6 for the shot, which is pretty narrow for such a shallow depth of field (particularly at that distance). Did you blur this with Photoshop or am I not aware of Nikon makingtilt-shift lenses at the 18mm focal length???
