Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

Rap you need to stop posting pictures of your equipment - Just last night I was searching for 85mm f/1.2 L - Almost pulled the trigger for $1600 but thenrealized that I should save for a 5D II which make no damn sense -- so stop it - seriously - I have a problem and you adding fuel to it. LOL

Santi I must say it has muscle for sure but I bet not everyone can use that little thing like you - props .. can we see the tripod for it that's if youusing one!

^co sign with the comment for santi, i had a g9 and hated it because i could never figure out how to use the manual mode correctly. good thing i gave it to mybrother and picked up the d60 but now i have no time to shoot.

Another video......wanted to make it more interesting then just skate footage but the whole idea is a first person view of what videographers go through to get skate footage......go out at night, get like 3 tricks and just go home. It doesn't have that magic that I wanted but hopefully it'll get there......

And I took photos too but my flash photography skills suck. Maybe I'll post them up when I get home later.
What did you use to shoot this?

Only contribution. My daughter. I'm getting a Sigma 10-20mm next week, so hopefully thatwill bring on some more creative shots.

My-T.

What I would've done is shot it at an angle where the subject was between the old stadiumand new stadium...kinda highlighting the old and the new.

Rap Sizzle are you doing anything with this equipment or just posting stuff for a blog?

I mean the sense and use of spending nearly six grand on equipment just to blog about it doesn't make sense to me.

haha, nah....it's not just for my blog. I'm an event photographer. I also shoot for the Filipino organization here at Purdue and I'mworking on tagging along with my friends (also students) who shoot weddings. Oh and no offense but who the hell is stupid enough to buy all that gear just topost it on a blog? If you've got money sure and I'll tell you, I'm far from rich.

deal

rap... what do you do or how rich are your parents that you can afford all that? crazy...
Sold off my shoe collection and saved up a bunch. If you want stuff bad enough, you'll do all you can to save up for it. Believe me, havingall this equipment does not come without sacrifice.

rapsizzle, thanks for the info.

does anyone else have opinions on flickr? or any other image host?

Sorry guys, I really don't mean to boast. I just saved up and sacrificed a lot so it it feels good to share what I had always dreamed of having. I'vesaid it before and I'll say it again, there are others out there who have an even more ridiculous equipment list. The guy I got my 5D from has a 1Ds MarkII, 5D II, 40D and crap load of L-lenses that blow mine out of the water...and get this, dude is only 19 years old. I don't expect to pick up new gear anytime soon so there no need to worry about posts like this. I haven't had time to go out and shoot lately so I just shot what's worth shooting here inmy apartment...my new equipment.

wait, why do you need all 3 if the L is the fastest one (best one)?

Any benefits/reasons to having the 1.8 and 1.4?

and nice stuff as always. I feel so embarrassed with my XS and kit lens. hah

^ The 1.8 has actually be sold along with my gripped Rebel XT (I'm so relieved I found a buyer for it
laugh.gif
). The 1.4 I'm still contemplating on whetherI should keep or sell. If you ask me it's the best lens in terms of build and image quality for the price. Of my 3 prime L-lenses, the 50L has been fairlydisappointing so far. It's not as sharp as I hope it would be. I tested it with my 5D but hopefully the micro adjustment feature on the 5D Mark II can helpits performance.

As for the video I shot with the 5D II, I'll upload it and post it on my blog after we show it at our callout tomorrow. 1GB for a 10min video

Oh, and don't be embarrassed about your XS kit. Anyone, granted they save up, can buy the best equipment, but if they don't know how to use them totheir full potential, it's all a complete waste. A photographer's creativity and vision can't be replaced by $1000+ gear.
