Exactly my first thought at the latest pics. I'm no quality/material expert but at first glance, they look like 'short hair' nubuck in the brighter pictures.
Edit: from what I can barely recall, for those that remember the og's, was that back heel area a bit different material than the rest of the shoe? Can't pinpoint it as i was in _th grade.

3M? Really? The upper looks like Nubuck or Durabuck. Glad it's not the silly Suede like on the 2010 or on the 2011 black/silver 5 and 2012 black/cements.
