on flyknit lunar runners they are awesome because there's no backing. on the kobe 9 there are fuse behind the knit, so it is basically pointless for using flyknit. i started playing in the EM low instead of my Perspectives. same performance and more breathable. 

Actually it's just glue to add some rigidity. Trust me, you don't really want "true flyknit" if you're gonna play basketball. Too forgiving to keep your foot on the footbed. Not that many of you really hoop that I gather so i could see where you would prefer for casual use

Agree. Don't own them, but can't see a good reason for that. The outsole was the best feature.
