DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

aou didnt have the same editing and pacing issues as this movie

character motivations were clear

action was way better

I disagree about that action boss.

What was Thor's motivation in AOU?

The Dark Knight Returns pacing was just as ***.

And the character motivations in that movie made absolutely no sense.

Not liking AoU for most people was a matter of taste. Just didn't connect with them. Maybe they wanted something more 'mature' (code word for just wanting **** to be dark) or were just tired of seeing the same superheroes on screen.

People not liking BvS was for lacking stuff that people take for granted when they watch a Marvel movie. ej. coherent plot structure, efficient writing, organization, fundamental knowledge of pacing, knowing exactly what goals to set and exactly how to execute it, etc.

both the death of superman and batman v superman should be story arcs that they touch upon way down the line, after we have seen multiple movies of batman and superman working together and superman is actually a clearly defined character so we care about him when he dies.

I bet snider knew he only had a few movies in him before he got replaced so he went ahead and crammed both his favourite storylines in one movie

I agree totally with the first part but I think you are very naive if you think the studio wouldn't have made Snyder or whomever cram this into one movie to ramp up the Justice League.

Zack Snyder does not have nearly enough pull to decide what storylines are or aren't going into a franchise movie of this magnitude.

He's taken to being a protector of earth after his brother tried to take over the planet and so he can continue smashing ms portman

Since he doesnt know much about the culture and enjoys fighting with company he sticks with the avengers and helps them on their missions

So Superman being told by his Krypto-dad that he needs to be a beacon of hope to humanity and him obviously being all in Lois Lane doesn't count as motivation?

Hmm

his human dad tells him to do nothing and not give a ****

his human mom tells him **** the world they dont owe you anything

being told something by someone =/= motivation

IMO AOU was no better and no less full of flaws than this movie but where is the outrage?

Keeping it funky on initial viewing I still enjoyed this movie more than The Dark Knight Rises.

People wanted The Dark Knight from this and I just don't think that was a plausible goal all things considered.

Do I think a movie of this magnitude should have been better? Absolutely but its not the dumpster fire it is being made out to be.

What reasoning? Cuz your def on one. I get this movie wasn't that bad, but better than TDKR... nah son

He wants to save his Mom and her home from harm. He wants to keep smashing Lois.

He is a good dude that enjoys helping people when he can.

There are tons of criticisms for this movie but not having it explained why Superman of all people is saving people and fighting crime just seems like common sense that shouldn't need an explanation.

No cares about Superman dying because they know he's not really dead.

Dark Knight Rises was a mediocre movie whose plot actually makes less sense than this movie.

Technically its a much better put together movie but that plot was *** and totally absurd when you really think about it.

But because its Nolan all the passes were given.

describe this movie version of superman's personality and motivations other than "he's a good dude"

people dont care about him dying because he's a poorly writen character with no personality

I mean that's how Superman is as a character in pretty much every form of media to me. *Kanye shrug*

He's a Jesus parable under the guise of a comic book character.

Having a complex plot doesn't make a movie entertaining. Especially a comic book movie when its a basic good vs bad plot. Yeah I'm aware of the plot holes in TDKR, but still enjoyable with much better detail. It doesn't get a pass cuz its Nolan, it gets a pass cuz its better.

BVS should learn from him. Less is more, so don't start building the second story when the foundation isn't complete.

This is one of those things were we are arguing about why Oranges don't taste good.

Just saw this movie, it was 3/5 to me.

The Good: Affleck did an amazing job as Batman and the action/battle scenes were visually amazing & exciting. Wonder woman was awesome too

The Bad: Overly complex plot, poor sequencing, poor pacing, poor editing, sappy dialogue, could've been about 20-30 mins shorter. I'm also just getting sick of Zach Synder's directing style. I hope after the bad reviews that this movie got, he gets removed from the justice league movie.

Overall: An entertaining movie with many many flaws. Not as bad as the reviews are making it out to be, but not particularly good either.

I'm caping for a a movie I've repeatedly said doesn't sense and should have been better?

Alright man you got it.

his view on the movie makes no sense at all tho
I see what this guy loved about the movie... but I'm not sure it was Zackary's intent for those moments to be such poignant parts of the movie
laugh.gif

what he pointed out was overlooked in my viewings tbh and I do kinda see what he was trying to say about the Batman/Superman changing moments

6/8 critical thinking score for him; 8/8 optimism and heart shown in the video which is appreciated

i mean it would make sense, but like literally the scene after his big "turning point" is batman flying around murdering people outside a building
roll.gif

fwiw Batman 'murdering' people didn't really bother me... its happened basically in every movie

but in this movie Zacky seemed to be really bold about it and just made it more blatant
