The "Optimism/4th Place finish" quote stemmed from Ponder being the Vikings QB for 16 games last season yet they finished 2nd and won Wild Card. All of a sudden there were people predicting 4th place finishes and saying "it's because of Ponder." Didn't make sense to me. However, based on yesterday, our inevitable downfall this year is going to be Ponder, the defense/LBs, the o-line... ugh. NOTHING good. I would hope that something has to get better, but that probably won't be Ponder.
Ponder! He had one good throw that I remember, and it was the one to Jerome Simpson down the sideline. But just think about the rest of those throws, the one to Jerome down the middle where he had to make a HELL of a catch. Greg Jennings catching the ball near his ankles turning backwards on that slant, etc. Some of those could've gone for TDs with a throw on the $ (Simpson dive), and some could've gone for big gains (that Jennings slant). Spielman is going to stick with Ponder for longer than most think.... he reached on him, and he knows that he
was the one that pulled the trigger. Whether that's right or wrong, Ponder will be out there for a while.
David Wilson ****** up a huge chance. He'll get out there again as the started obviously, but they clearly were looking for more from him and just didn't get it.
What the hell happened in that Seahawks/Panthers game? I didn't catch any of it, but the score....
Reggae Bush doing what we thought he would when we saw the Lions passing attempts to RBs last year.
When the Giants were down 17-30, it reminded me of that Sunday night game a couple years ago when Philip Rivers and the Chargers made the trip to the Meadowlands. That was the exact score, and Rivers and the Chargers, with absolutely no hope, marched down the field twice and put the ball in the end zone, winning 31-30. I saw that coming.... and thennnnnn the RB had the ball bounce off his hands.
Jaguars and Steelers.
Fred Jackson outplaying C.J. Spiller....over 100 total yards from scrimmage. Do we have another Shonn Greene false breakout season situation here? Hope not.
Lavonte David, wow.
For some reason I have the Eagles winning tonight, but all logic says no. And then Texans over Chargers, but a close one.
