2014 NFL Draft Thread

I forgot the DT name from Wake Forest but his leverage and strength was ridiculous. I think he's smaller than Donald too, anyone know if he's in the draft.

Nikita Whitlock

01/08/14 - All-Atlantic Coast Conference Wake Forest defensive tackle Nikita Whitlock understands too well that at 5-foot-11, he's not at the top of too many NFL draft boards. So Whitlock hopes a strong showing this week at the inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl will open a few eyes. Whitlock is among 98 players at the Citadel looking for the same thing. Scouts for all 32 NFL teams and most CFL clubs have attended practices, all looking for difference-makers on the field. Whitlock knows his impact probably won't be in the middle of the defensive line, where the 250-pound nose tackle made 82 stops — 19 of those coming behind the line of scrimmage his senior season. Whitlock's practiced at defensive end as well as fullback and tight end this week. "It's all about getting a chance to show what you can do," said Whitlock, voted first-team ACC by league media and second team by league coaches for the 4-8 Demon Deacons.

On Wednesday, Whitlock appeared to do that, continually getting the backfield when lined up with the defense and leading the charge for tailbacks Rajion Neal of Tennessee and D.J. Adams of Portland State. As Whitlock left the field for practice, he had a lengthy interview with an NFL scout. One of the Medal of Honor Bowl officials saw him afterward and said, "You looked like you had a good day." "I think I did," Whitlock said with a grin. - AP Sports

I want to know how 6'4.5 343lb Cyril Richardson was getting manhandled in practice by 6'0 288lb aaron Donald
Leverage, it's all about leverage & technique
man.. i'm talking more about the pancaking part..

some places had this dude rated as the top rated guard and a borderline 1st round pick

i get, getting beat by technique and quickness in 1 on 1s.. especially for a guy who looks like he would be a great DT in a 4-3 '1 gap' scheme.. but getting pancaked.. gee

...
Leverage is exactly how u pancake people. Its the "low man wins" part of football. If it wasn't any 400 lb fat **** would dominate at football.

i know.. but i assumed he had to be rated highly for some reason..

and i'm not expecting dudes that big to have the best lateral quickness, or else they would have him at one of the tackle spots (most likely right).. but i assumed he would at least be a mauler at the guard spot and using his size functionally

AJ McCarron on Dan Patrick's show says he's not sure if he'll throw at the NFL Combine. He mentioned timing issues with receivers.

It sure seems that way. He always annoyed me a bit.

I kind of agree with him though. Let the game play be how he's judged. He can only hurt himself. Let the combine be for the Q's that no one is talking about.

Possibly.

agree with this. as long he throws for scouts at a pro day...no big deal IMO

He's always seemed to me like the typical SEC school frat douche that thinks he runs the world cause mommy and daddy have handed him everything since he was born. Then he puts on that lil act for the cameras and does some charity events and ESPN makes sure to showcase the hell out of it to make him seem like this all-American golden boy.

In unrelated news supposebly Mike Williams was fined over $200,000 over the last couple months of the season for supposebly missing team meetings, rehab appointments and maturity issues.

Wouldn't be suprised if we took Sammy Watkins if he's there at our pick.

I guess Barr really is falling back based on what's being seen from his film. The latest from McShay, who I don't hold his opinion highly, but he isn't the first to say something like this. Barr might fall back into the late first.

I watched all his snaps from like 3 games, he's fast and can get to the QB when he's untouched but when he's gets blocked he's looks average to me. He needs to get stronger but then he may lose his speed.

word is that good? I know Sammy is a beast but it seems y'all have some other positions in need that might take your team up a notch. is v jack gonna be there still? I don't follow Tampa or the draft boards heavy but that's been my perception. just wondering.

I'd happily take him on the eagles.. He can sit behind cole and graham for a year and then take very the predator lb spot after we let both go...

Or we try to move graham to a 4-3 team who needs a pass rushing de..d then release cole in a year

EAGLES
mariota or hundley in the 1st.. defense with the rest of the picks (unless by some miracle de'anthony drops to the 2nd, then him in the 2nd).. a kicker in the 7th

trade foles for whatever we can get (ditto barkley).. trade brandon graham to a 4-3 team that needs a pass rusher.. if a team needs a RB, see what they would give for bryce brown
damn homie you wanna trade the franchise QB for Brett hundley hahaha. Hindsight is 20/20

Still not sure he's our franchise QB yet, but I did say that on sept 19th (after the 3rd game of the season and Vick was still the starter and we were 1-2)

I'm glad both of those guys went back and foles gets another year after being the starter from camp.. If he doesn't do well then next draft we know what to do
