Because he hasn't shown anything to believe he's a top player in this league. He's a solid player that can do a lot of things, just nothing at a special level.
And no one emulates Kobe. Not a shot at him but now days everyone looks to jack 3s. Kobe is a volume scorer in an age that's moving to highly valuing efficiency.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Kobe even yells "Kobe!" When he shoots over people.... So I'm assuming people in China are getting that from others, not Kobe

Unless you believe shooting contested fadeaway jumpers are emulating Kobe. I could understand the footwork argument, except that's what Kobe emulated from Hakeem

people emulate all great players
as a kid i would watch a lakers game or highlights then run outside and practice the move i saw kobe do
or watch ray allen sonics highlights and go shoot 3s for hours

dirk, kobe, and wade have had great success as mid range jump shooters. i know the stats say otherwise, but i wish more players mastered the mid range game.
