Playing his starters too many minutes is a valid criticism but all things considered he's still a good coach. He had your franchise playing good ball until ownership/front office screwed everything up. I don't really get your bitterness towards him.

My bitterness is I get annoyed when people I consider grossly incompetent and stubborn fall upward in life. I don't like the revolving door attitude that the NBA has. Bad GM's and coaches get a 3rd and 4th chance. consider yourself lucky that the celts took a shot on a great up and comer.

He point blank told people that he was going to ride Lin like secretariat. He wouldn't take on Thibbs as a defensive assistant. He would yell at players for fouling to prevent a fast break. He's a terrible communicator. One of the worst I've ever seen

People must have a short memory. Those suns teams were stacked.

I feel the same way about someone who runs a company in the ground and gets a 20 million dollar parachute and a new high paying job as I do dantoni

I also felt like the nice guy act was fake and manipulative. The new York media was hypnotized by his souther drawl like I've never seen.

Not even going to defend his communication, it generally sucks.

But often times it results in laughs at the expense of players.

yeah d'antoni sucks. don't know what so many people give him credit for. he falls way short at making his players better and using what he has to get ahead. always falling short while somehow getting the benefit of the doubt

calling d'antoni a visionary? that's just insane to me

"After a league review of the Clippers-Warriors game, we have come to the conclusion that Blake Griffin should not have been ejected from the game," NBA president of basketball operations Rod Thorn said in a statement Thursday. "A common foul should have been called on Griffin for initially attempting to dislodge the Warriors' Andrew Bogut and a technical foul should have been assessed to Bogut for grabbing Griffin by the shirt and wrestling with him."

While Jeremy Lin has been the story of the year for the New York Knicks, the player he replaced has been forgotten about at the end of the bench.

The point guard that started the first seven games of the season (nine overall) for the Knicks, Toney Douglas, has played a total of seven minutes over the past month. In the last 13 games, Douglas has not touched the court in 12 of those — including eight straight DNP-Coach’s Decision overall.

“His role’s defined,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said of Douglas, literally laughing as the words came out of his mouth. “He’s probably the only one that knows what he’s doing [every game].”

SOOOO FOUL

 wow

Toney Douglas was pretty bad tho

So what if hes bad lol. That's like telling the ugly chick you know where you gonna be on Saturday night. HOME

He's just socially ******ed or something.

^Douglas flourished as a Rocket until Beverley came on, and seems to hit his 3's in the playing time he gets in GS. Dan Toni just couldn't utilize Douglas' full potential as a Knick.

Toney actually got a lot of play from Da'ntoni early on... Until he didn't.

Let's not start defending Toney Douglas here though. I do agree Da'ntoni is too harsh with his doghouse . Toney is awful at being a PG.

DubA I agree with you, I was  because that's a crazy unprofessional statement for a coach.

Andre Iguodala's tenure as a reaction gif starts now.

steve nash, toney douglas, lin, steve blake, duhon, felton all had their best years/months/weeks playing for dantoni

the thing about coaches in any sport is that if you are known as a bad coach then people will attribute everything bad that happens to the team and when good things happen it will be because of the players.

Amare, Marion, Diaw, Barbosa , etc...

I think a lot of Knicks fans misplace their bitterness to Da'ntoni because they can't admit in their hearts how awful the Melo trade was for the franchise.

if only melo was going to be a free agent that offseason and they could have just waited to sign him....

I know, that would have been crazy, right? But it's not like he expressed clear interest in coming here or anything...
