Jay-Z's Bold response to Racial Profiling & Barney's Partnership. UPDATED 11/16

Hov sounding like a politician lol. I can see dude running for a seat somewhere. By no means am I saying he's qualified..but I can see his arrogance leading him to run and possibly even leading to a win in some dinky rural bum **** town. and then he writing a song about how he has a senate seat or something lol

I'd say he's more qualified than Manny Pacquiao, Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The latter of the TWO both served as Governor's; Ventura Minnesota and Schwarzenegger California. That's my opinion.

So Hov for Prezzy doesn't sound too farfetched after all. He did say that he texts Obama. Could he possibly be getting some well guided info on how to make that Political transition??

Hey it could happen, just ask Arnold. :pimp:

jay shouldn't of even responded.

so pointless to even get him thrown into this nonsense as if he can change barneys policies.

people give these rappers way too much credit, these dudes don't really have the pull as you think they do.

in corporate america and in the areas of business where "wealth" is in the billions these dudes are just puppets to push their product.

(see kanye west)

yes it's true jay isn't making a dime but those sales are gonna give him a huge tax break.

I disagree. Jay-Z and Beyonce have significant pull with the public. Just some protestors got Rick Ross and Lil Wayne's endorsements to end. However, if Jay took a real stance on this issue that was more than what the Barney's spokesperson has said, it could jeopardize future endorsements.

He did what I'd expect from a former dope dealer. You can't expect much from someone that will sell poison to his own people. Anything for a dollar.

Even if the clothing line comes out, its tainted. Yes its for charity blah, blah, blah. However this partnership carriers controversy. Consumers have power and its in their wallets. Jay-z can keep "talking" all he wants, but he must also know the people who got him to the top can easily bring him to the bottom.

I guarantee this will not affect Barney's sales one bit. Remember when there was an outcry from the gay community to boycott Chick Fila and their sales actually went up, I suspect this will have the same effect on Barneys.....people don't care, this story will be forgotten in about a week. And whatever this kid makes (if he makes anything) will probably be a drop in the bucket compared to what their profits are.

More qualified than Jesse Ventura? Take your stanism elsewhere.

I don't really see anything wrong with his response. I like to have as full of an understanding of something as I can before I speak on it as well.

Then he should have waited to speak and said nothing until he understood.
He should have taken notes from his wife and NEVER had responded.
This is not the first, second third etc that barneys has done this.

The facts are there.

Boys buys belt with card and shows ID
After he leaves he is stopped and detained.
Those are solid facts.

Barneys can say they didnt make the call, but why are they allowing outside enforcement to harass their paying customers.
Point blank the chances of barney changing is pretty slim.
I pick and choose my battles and the freedom to shop at barneys is not at the top of my list, as cowardice as that may sound.

Lets talk about a 19 using his entire check for a 300 belt. :x
Some shoes, ill let you slide but a belt

No bueno

The backlash he's been receiving is large and petitions for him to pull out and all that are out there, I don't see anything wrong with him essentially saying, "Now, hold on. Give me a second to process this." Continuing to be silent would probably only have hurt him more. It was probably a "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't" situation anyway since people are never satisfied.

More qualified than Jesse Ventura? Take your stanism elsewhere.

And Jesse's Ventura's Qualifications far exceed Jay-Z's is what your saying?

Let's be serious here. Jesse Ventura was in the Navy and Vietnam war, after the war he wrestled in what is currently known as the WWE for 12 years.

Maybe that is a great resume for a Governor of Minnesota :smh: :smh:

You forgot the part where he was a mayor of a city in Minnesota. You sound ridiculous.

Interesting that Hov is going to move forward with the launch. Based on what he presented, I feel that he should proceed with the launch as well.

When has Jay-z stood up for anything other than

His bank account? @some of ya expecting some

Sort of political stance from a cat that hasnt made

1 ever on wax, why ya expect one in real life?

Jay-z is the most hated man in the black community. It really sickens me.

A. He gives millions to charities every year

B. He gives practical real world advice to black youths (make money, pay your lawyers, move out of the hood)

C. He speaks on social issues in his own way (constantly tlaking about how the projects were temporary and how we need to do more than sports and entertanment)

But because my man don't have a Kufi or overtly stand on some political platform, he gets no respect from the black community

Ya'll criticize Al Sharpton for trying to hard to represent the black community in a way he not everyone approves of, yet Scorn Jay-z because he does his peace for the hood and stays out the spotlight

"[Jay-Z]
Jay-Z this, Jay-Z that (Jay-Z won't hold my hand no more)
Jay-Z this, Jay-Z that
Jay-Z that, Jay-Z this (Jay-Z won't give me no money)
Get off Jay-Z **** What y'all ****** get front page articles, y'all mention Jay-Z name
(This thing on?) Jay-Z, Jay-Z, in Jay-Z news
I understand what y'all trying to do
I brought the flutes this time, though
I unleashed the flutes on them, guru
Gimme some more music in the headphone
Let's get the proceedings proceeding this evening
Let's do this thing (let's do it right this time)
C'mon"  - Blueprint 2

Serious question: what does it mean to sell out?

Personally, never understood what it mean.

A sell out is this...

Jay Z will not distance himself from Barneys. According to a recent statement, Jay Z revealed that he would continue with the launch of his fashion line at Barneys and will deal with the racial profiling issue.

After two black teens were victims of racial profiling at Barneys, some of Jay Z’s fans called on him to step away from his deal with Barneys to teach the department store a lesson. However, Jay Z believes it’s in his best interest to continue with the partnership.

In turn, Jay Z says he will sit on a council that will “deal the issue of racial profiling.” Jay Z also said that 100 percent of the proceeds received from the items sold will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation. Jay Z’s foundation will also receive an additional 10 percent of all retail sales from Barneys stores across the nation.

The deal seems to be favorable for Jay Z and his foundation, but it does nothing to stop hip-hop fans from labeling him a “sell out” because of his partnership with Barneys.

^ straight sell out man...

Can't rock with this dude at all.

Sheer stupidity. Backing out of the deal is equal to discriminating a race?

Maybe the KKK should set up a fund for the NAACP :rolleyes

Cut the B.S. Barney's isn't the only collaborator available. Valuing money and a donation over respect. :smh:
