Calvin Johnson: Greatest WR of All Time Discussion

Calvin Johnson retires.

27th overall career receiving yards. (11,619)
22nd overall career receiving TDs. (83)
43rd overall career receptions. (731)

Not even top 25.

Greatest of all time. LOL.

BUM *** STAFFORD and a trash organization pushing my mans into retirement

He aint even demand a trade or to be released. Left money on the table and still had to pay a lil back. Thats how you know how trash the Lions are :lol:

Yeah def not the greatest nor in the conversation. Was the leagues best for a couple years and a pleasure to watch but Barry Sanders did so much more in 9 years, just as an a example, so its not a longevity issue. Barry's teams were just as bad if not worse. I kno its two entirely diff positions just offering another example of a career cut short yet still dominating and worthy of bein called the GOAT.

So now that Calvin has decided to quit, this thread should be locked. Talking about a guy who's not even a 1st ballot HOF.

GOAT

Talent=Moss
Stats=Rice
Ability to jump over 3 guys and catch a bail out throw=Calvin

If he does retire, I don't see how he's not top 5 all time.  I mean he has to be behind Rice and Moss but anyone else it's debatable

Careers don't end after 9 years so he has a long way to go to be the GOAT of anything

Right now he's the GOAT Detroit Lion receiver

Calvin Johnson is somewhere in that 20-25 range if he retires today

Decent career, probably gets in the Detroit Hall of Fame

Going to Canton too.

Coming from you this is hilarious to me.

An average starting receiver in the NFL today puts up 700 yards a season.

You trying to tell me Calvin Johnson would be a greater player if he hung around and was average for the next 4 years to pad his stats?

If he was just average the next 3 years he would be top 10-15 in all receiving categories while still playing less seasons than anyone above him.

Basing greatness on cumulative stats is why Chris Paul just got named the 29th player in NBA history.
