How often has Jay Z been out done on a track?

Curious to how many artist have actually out performed the rap king himself on a shared track. All I can think of is Eminem on renegade and kanye west on h.a.m.

the renegade thing is is overrated, people act like em made jayz look like some scrub. they both put in work with solid verses and they have a classic song to show for it

and im one of the biggest eminem stans on this board

You should probably think harder then. It's happened plenty of times. It happens to every great rapper. This thread will devolve into nonsense though. Be prepared for that.

This is very true. People act like Em put up 50 and Jay had 15, when in fact it was more like 40. An all around superb effort from both. Em was clearly in his element though. Nas definitely put the battery in the back of that one. Cause prior to Ether I never heard a single negative thing about Jay's performance on that song.

the first to come to mind (as far as his tracks) -

where have you been
renegade
run this town

however, hov still delivered with his verses... he didn't get killed on these tracks, the features just have more of an edge on him.

Jay-Z's second verse on Renegade > Em's verses

Do not step to me, I'm awkward, I box lefty
An orphan my pops left me, and often, my momma wasn't home
Could not stress to me I wasn't grown, especially on nights
I brought something home to quiet the stomach rumblings

Kanye won Run This Town tho.

He wasn't outdone on Renegade, I've been into it before but the public perception of Eminem was playing a large hand into how the verse was viewed. Lyrically they were on page with each other and Eminem is one of my all time favourite artists.

Where Have You Been is so close and I have zero issue with someone saying Beans but I think Jay did better.

NT is the only place I have seen the Run This Town mention for this topic.

What We Do is also going to be mentioned at some point and I also disagree with it. Matter fact if you let NT tell it, Beans has out rapped Hov every time they rapped together.

I'm curious to see what songs people name though I have my eye on this thread.

1-900-hustler, new day, never let me down, get by remix,  whenever he rapped alongside big l

where have you been is one of those songs where im not even looking for whos outdoing who.  however with that being said as raw as beans verse is u see the difference in skill between the two as soon as hovs verse starts

kanye has gotten jay a few times but OP i can assure u H.A.M. was not one of them

I vehemently disagree with Black Republican. That is the Jay Z and Nas collaboration with the largest difference in verse quality and it is not in Nas' favour. Verse was not good to me at all whereas the Jay Z verse was fantastic

Kendrick: BDKMV

Eminem: Renegade (don't care what y'all talking about. nobody said his verse was wack. Em's was better imo. get over it)

Kanye: Run This Town, Never Let Me Down & The Joy

Drake: Pound Cake

BIG: Brooklyn's Finest

What We Do is also going to be mentioned at some point and I also disagree with it.

Definitely "What We Do".

 at you disagreeing with it. Yet you somehow knew it would be mentioned.....

"Run This Town" I'd agree with as well.

black republican? hell no.  so appalled and pound cake nah.  kanye had the best verse on never let me down without question.  run this town idc.

i think dmx might have him on blackout, i just like hovs verse better

Pusha won So Appalled. That is a fact.

Pusha didn't even stay on topic.  The title of the track is "So Appalled"......not "How much weight I pushed", but then again that's the title for just about every Pusha song or track in his mind I guess.
You can't even be serious right now.

His verse on Pound Cake was atrocious.
Drake's verse wasn't exactly that hot either champ, but lyrics wise I would still say Jay was better.
