This is all especially crazy when you consider Facebook bought Whatsapp for 19bil...I've never even met a person who uses that app. Also, you really need an accountant and a lawyer to do all the math and legal stuff cause after taxes and everything, the figure you actually bring in is going to be a lot less than what you thought you were getting. I know the article says Facebook is paying in "cash", and I'm not too familiar with venture capitalism, but do they really pay all that in cash and how often does that happen with such big transactions like these? Hard to imagine that much money being exchanged, would assume cash + shares/stocks.

Whatsapp is huge in Europe.

It has made SMS/MMS redundant to a large degree.

Dude should definitely sell snapchat though. It's a nothing app and the fact it will make him a billionaire is pretty crazy.

Huge steal by Facebook. Just like Twitter stole Periscope. $100 million purchase for an app that'll be valued at a billion in no time.

Narrow Minded like how? you know how many of these companies are "over valued"? Very few of these companies have business models that can generate revenue. Its worth so much because it has so many users, but it makes no money, if it does go public they will just add Ads/"commercials" like Instagram did.
 
Idk if u use snapchat lucky but they can deliver ads likes movie trailers and stuff through video

And they also have a feature where users can discover new things from different websites.

Snapchat has been vastly improved.

Download it and check it out and then bash it

And add me while ur at it @ guccimania

Btw its my fav app ever created it really changed my life

look up the over valuation of these App Companies its a common thing, outside of Twitter many of these companies struggle to create profitable business models once they go public without totally ruining what made them popular. The real Juug of the app industry is to make something that is dope and let a bigger company buy it out, that is unless you have something that is actually a for profit business model.

I used it when it first dropped, could be different now. IMO the model of the app isn't something that will last as a sustainable stand alone company for say the next 30 years. IMO the kid would have been better of selling, and using the 3 bill to create something more sustainable. I could def understand if FB low balled him and said a few hundred mill, but IMO 3 bill is enough to sell, especially if he could workout being able to get some kick back from FBs profits.
 
You think you'd really kick yourself that much if you sold it for 3 billion and then it became worth 15 B?

Obviously it's waaay more money, but what the ****, 3 billion is 3 billion, ya know?

Ohh yeah the app done changed alot since it first dropped

I definetly see it as being sustainable for many many years doen the line

Nah... Snapchat is aligned with all the other over valued companies...


Doesn't mean it can't maintain its overvaluation though...

Amazon been operating n the red for awhile... Negative earnings...

And have been for some years...



Snapchat will be fine... Spiegel will create a new app or jump on board with another upstart app and rid the wave...


Snapchat is great for businesses , especially retailers

me personally once you get in the billions its fair game, Maybe he has some features up his sleeve that will extend the wave, to me personally I see it as nothing different that videos on IG, so my statements are a tad bias. That being said, he could be waiting for a better deal, but I wouldn't sit on Snapchat forever.
 
I can see him turning FB down because the Chinese investors see how popular a messaging/picture app could be to the billion people that live in a county with strict restriction on freedom. Something without a trail would be massively appealing in China and I bet the CEO know this.
