The Flash (CW Series) thread, season 9

Maybe RF doesn't exist without Barry? :nerd:

And maybe the present Wells is pushing Barry to the limits so he can power his suit even more via the treadmill :nerd:

I don't know |I

Isn't it a given that he exist even without Barry since he is able to go back to the past (whoever is from the future) after Barry has gone missing in the future?

That is the key part of the story, Wells is training and protecting Barry so he doesn't go missing in the future. Sure in the end it is probably to benefit himself but it seems like he can exist without Barry.

Hmmm I'm not sure but I assumed he wasn't referenced in the future had he not gotten his speed back from the Power Outage episode...so now that he exists, then so does RF?

I did find it interesting that Wells asked if Detective Thawne wanted to read him his rights so that the RF can pinpoint who Thawne was

And towards the end when Cisco mentioned two speedsters present on the night of Barry's mom's murder...the same red and yellow that was at Detective West's house :nerd:

Cant even get a clean snap of these dudes :smh:

Wells also made sure Barry's name came up again in the future, the RF said last night it's like they've been doing this their whole lives. Connection there, in a sense?

I'm about to binge this season. Somebody give me a rating out of 10. Wasn't too impressed with the pilot and was never that excited about the actor who was chosen to play Barry, but I did see potential.

Is this **** good?

Yeah, it's pretty solid, and it runs perfectly with Arrow.

8-8.5/10 or so.

Another thing: do the writers actually handle super-speed well, as in give him adequate and believable challenges?

Or is this ***** dodging bullets but getting knocked out by Street Catz?

All signs point to Wells being Reverse Flash, but I don't think Reverse Flash not attacking Eddie was just a coincidence.

What if Iris now knowing how Barry feels, starts catching feelings for him and breaks up with Eddie to be with him.

Eddie all in his feels, loses it, turns heel and eventually starts down the path to becoming Reverse Flash.

Reverse Flash is the archenemy of Flash a good way to get that rivalry going is for both of them to be in love/fighting over the same girl.

Real interesting in seeing how this plays out.

A little similar to how Slade started hating oliver but eddie would have a legit reason.

Just watch and make up your mind or don't watch.

Like any other thread people have been giving their opinion likes & dislikes throughout...even before the pilot leaked  :smh:

Pretty much this exactly.

Arrow vs. Flash fight will have you:

All of it makes no type of sense.

It's not really a struggle, it's needed suspense of disbelief. How does a dude that can outrun everything, even himself continue to be interesting without ficitionally imposed limits?

By presenting characters that still, even with super speed, cause him to struggle.

Such as Steel, who could only be defeated by Barry understanding his powers more and tapping more into the speed force. Introducing plot induced stupidity is just terrible writing, I wont even waste time explaining why.

Outside of Batman, I was never a big DC guy growing up. I admit I had no clue who Firestorm was until this show.

Umm that is not what they are doing though. His rogues gallery is catered to counter his speed, the writers write villains that actually has a chance to beat him. Like Cap Cold which can freeze and take away his traction or just freeze the whole room and slow down your metabolism immensely. Mirror Master that can confuse you and teleport between mirrors/reflections faster than he can run and multiple holograms. Trickster who just has gadgets that explodes and hidden traps. Zoom who can run as fast (if not faster than him at times). Grodd who is telepathic and a super genius and can withstand Flash flurry of punches (Flash has no super strength) and control people and use citizens and his friends against him. Weather Wizard who controls weathers and hold a whole city hostage. Example is what Captain Boomerang which set 4 bombs in the city that will detonate all at once, Cap was beaten rather easily but he presented a challenge for the speedster. These guys also team-up to pose more problems for Flash.

I mean you obviously have to suspend some disbelief, it's a comic but you really just need a little imagination and it will all work out just fine and still enjoy the show.

Plus in the show, he is a newbie and that is pretty much what the whole season has been, Wells helping him get better, get stronger, get faster. Barry is also a nerd and has no street smarts (and friendzoned) and his fighting skills are lacking (Oliver tried to teach him that and told him to keep training). I mean this is really all you need to know right now, he is just a newb that is still discovering his powers while others here just want him to be an expert in every aspect of his powers from the get go.

But at the end of the day, it is just the typical hero/villain scenario, he encounters a villain and doesn't know what they can do and loses, retreat and figure stuff out and then win. Rinse. Repeat. It really isn't that difficult to understand especially with him just starting out.

I was going to make a post in which I explain how mass increases as speed increases (E=MC^2, giving flash more than just super strength, but the capacity for infinite 'strength' hence the IMP), and the fact that I've known about his enemies and all their capabilities for years (Zoom (not Prof. Zoom) operates on time, he's not actually fast)..

But that one statement is all it takes for my laziness and 'it's not worth it' mental to kick in.

That may be good enough for you, but not for me.

Im going to enjoy the show regardless, but Barry frequently forgetting the fact that he can move at a speed that makes him untraceable to anyone not a speedster, along with reflexes to match that speed is just not good storytelling to me.

He has the Superman problem, the writers have to adapt to that. It will only get worse as he gets faster throughout the seasons.

Flash is considered one of the strongest, if not the strongest DC characters for a reason. Not just talking Earth bound superheroes, this is in comparison to everyone introduced in a DC comic.

:smh: Can't say I didn't expect it.

Flash writers have been struggling with this issue for 70 years

DC in general struggle with this issue with that Pantheon of Godsoverpowered army of superheroes.

As usual, Marvel needs to hurry up and show the competition how its done.

Yah you have to suspend disbelief with superhero movies/comics but DC man... :smh:
