The Oakland Athletics 2018 Offseason Season Thread | One and Done Again

man just saw the ending of that game last night...

That HR by Ianetta, so closed to being snagged by Gentry :smh: tipped off his glove

I'm glad we are 10-5 and coming off a 7-2 road trip but there is a lot of room for improvement.

The biggest positive has been the starting rotation for sure, they look great. The bullpen as a whole looks very good, but we have to figure out this closer situation. Hopefully Johnson can get his act together because Cook/Doolittle/Gregerson as setup men is just filthy.

The team's base running and defense (at times) is a concern of mine. Sometimes they look like a little league team on the bases...:smh:

Offensively, I see the same issues as last year. This team will hit the 3-4 starters but will continue to struggle against top pitchers. We are getting very little production from the bottom of the lineup and that is not going to cut it. I value Reddick's defense a bunch, but if this guy can't hit .200, he CANNOT be in the lineup with guys like Barton and Punto. :x

C: Dino
1B: Moss
2B: Callaspo
3B: Donny
SS: Lowrie
LF: Ces
CF: Coco
RF: Gentry/Reddick
DH: Jaso

Those are the guys that need to play everyday, unless someone is hurt or needs a day off. This isn't little league baseball, get Barton, Sogard, and Punto off the damn field.

It's very early in the season but these were my random thoughts for the night.

Heading to the park on saturday for sure and possibly tomorrow also. :pimp:

Sean Doolittle just got a five year deal with us.

... hm.

Doolittle gets a 5-year contract through 2018 season. Includes club options for 2019 and 2020.
