The Oakland Athletics 2018 Offseason Season Thread | One and Done Again

I say underrate because I think all real/diehard fans understand the holes in his game but sometimes they talk about him like he is a 6/7 hitter. Cespedes has his ups and downs but I still think he is a middle of the bat type of bat and the articles/reports I have read about this trade make it seem like his lose means nothing to the offense. Guys will have to step up to make up for his lose. I don't agree with people saying a platoon of Vogt/Gomes is better than cespedes. Neither of those guys can hit 3-5 consistently.

Absolutely. Everyone's going to have to step up. Especially moss/Donaldson.

Anyone have word on coco. Is he ok?

I think Gomes could bat 4 against lefties he has power and over 300 average

I think coco is worse then they're letting on hope not but also not holding my breath

I have tickets for Sat and Sunday let me know

I'm going to miss having Cespedes around, but its Oakland; that's what we do. He was fun to watch, but he's never going to be the once-in-a-generation player that people think he can be. He's going to be 30 soon (or maybe he already is) and he hasn't shown many signs of improvement since coming into the league (I'd argue his baserunning has gotten worse). He's not amazing in the outfield outside of his cannon, and he still has a good amount of really bad at-bats. The only effect on the lineup I'm worried about is clutch hitting in playoffs, Coco can't be the only one hitting the ball come crunch time.

That being said, this trade is going to look really bad if Lester doesn't re-sign or we don't win it all this year. This could turn real bad, real fast. OR it could lead to a title, which leads to new revenue streams, which leads to more players coming here, which leads to a resolution of the ballpark situation, which leads to a new park, which leads to more revenue streams, which leads to more dynasties, you get the picture.

Reddick looking like his old self since coming back. Good defense, swinging the bat well. I'm glad for him!

What's the point of having good pitching if you can't hit? Our pitching isn't even good.

Number one offense in the Mlb and can't hit....

Take away all of cespedes 70 rbi's and were only 25 runs from the #1 O do you even watch baseball

Pitching isn't even that good? Are you ******* high? Best pen in the majors! top three rotation (if not number one) get this dude outta here go watch a Rockies game

Why would it matter who I am? You're talking nonsense, do you really believe this staff isn't that good?

I don't think so I just am being real

You say we can't hit... We can

I just really can't believe you would say our staff isn't that good, if that's the case who's is better Detroit? In name recognition maybe verlander hasn't really done anything sherzer has regressed price is legit

Dodgers and cards are both better then them in my eyes and Dodgers may be better than the A's

bronconation24 bronconation24 I realize I came off as a **** earlier and I apologize for it everyone is entitled to their own opinion

I don't agree with yours but nevertheless it's yours I really assumned you were here trolling with the screen name and saying our "pitching isn't all that good"

What this team needs to really make a push

1. Coco back on the field even though Fuld is playing above his means he's not the leader coco is

2. Donaldson to wake his bat up

3. Moss to play up to his ability

4. Reddick to stay hot

5-10. Jimmy Rollins

 Jimmy Rollins. You could probably go back to the A's 2009 thread and find me talking about bringing Jimmy home. I'd still be stoked to see him at second right meowwwww.

No worries bro. No need to apologize. I was being a bit irrational. I was just mad about the past 3 games. We've scored in 4 of the last 30 innings or something like that. And i truly believe our rotation is inferior to detroits. And knowing the baseball gods, will see them in the post season.

I agree though. Coco needs to come back healthy. Moss, Donaldson and the rest of the top of the lineup need to pickup yo's gone power. The bottom of the lineup needs l, and I mean ABSOLUTLEY NEEDS REDDICK to keep this up. Cause we hell know Alberto and sogard won't do much.

I want to see all you guys at the parade in October. That'd be one of the best days of my life. I just don't want to get ahead of ourselves. Yes we're the best team in the mlb, but we can get better.

With all that being said, it's a new series against a hot team. Lets get it. #greencollar
