Pharrell New Album "Girl" coming Out March 3

Ya'll use the term "classic" too freely. In My Mind was not a classic. IMO it was a horrible album. And I'm a Neptunes fan.

He had a huge year last year but mainly off of features on other songs. Blurred Lines was the biggest song of the summer but that was co written by Robin Thicke. Get Lucky was a huge record but that was composed by Daft Punk and had the funk brought by the legendary Nile Rodgers, Pharrell just wrote and sang lyrics. What I'm trying to get at is last years "successful" year of Pharrell was off the talent of others, he didn't have a huge solo record. Same with his success as a producer, he was huge when he partnered with Chad, but he fell off when he went solo. He hasn't shown that he can put out a solo project successfully, like for example a Kanye.

And LOLLLLL at the dude saying that Pharrell is a Marvin Gaye without the vocals. Marvin Gaye writing and composing >>>>>>>>> anything this dude has done.

Blah blah blah blah blah...

I'm not in the mood for you music snobs today.

Is this cool story available in PDF format?

Did you ignore the word "personal" before "classic"?

EDIT - I knew I recognized the screenname

Dude's been hating on Pharrell for years on NT

He didn't have a big solo record? I believe Happy was a number 1 record. He produced those other tracks like 'Blurred Lines' too don't forget.

I personally hate that Happy song. I think it went #1 in the netherlands or something?

Blurred Lines was a HUGE record and pharrell DID produce it but it was a huge record not because of the production, but the purely off the rhythm and melody in the singing which Robin primarily wrote. The production is pretty bland, 3 to 4 note melody, no bridge, nothing groundbreaking on the production side, the song shot to #1 off the strength of the catchiness of Robin's vocals, NOT the production.

Like I said earlier I am a Neptunes fan. Loved there stuff in the late 90's and into the early 2000's.

I've always hated Pharrell ever since the Neptunes won the Grammy award for Producer of the year, and during Pharrells acceptance speech, where Chad wasn't present, he didn't mention or thank Chad, 1/2 of the duo, and took all credit for BOTH of their brilliant work. Ever since then dude has been a fraud to me, and he got exposed at how horrible he is without Chad with In My Mind. Till this day people act like Chad doesnt exist and assume Pharrell composed all of those brilliant bridges and chorus in the late 90's (which he can't do cause he sucks at music theory and playing)  and Pharrell continues to take all the credit for their work. Don't even let me get started on how the Neptunes got started as a band, where Pharrell was just a vocalist and Chad handled the production......that's how Teddy Riley will tell you they were discovered.

Longtime fan of his work, but I can't say I've liked anything he's done in recent memory that much.

Hope something on this album changes that.

Dude Happy is #2 in the USA right now and it's probably going to be #1 next week

You sound like a huge hater my dude :smh:

The track list is out. JT is on a song. Miley Cyrus was too. A couple others.

A big fan of the Neptunes but I'm not buying this. He can't make solo records because he can't sing. I'll download though. I'm expecting a few smooth records though. Also wasn't a big fan of his debut album outside of a couple song. He should stick to beats, hooks and background vocals.

1 “Marilyn Monroe”
2 “Brand New” (Feat. Justin Timberlake)
3 “Hunter”
4 “Gush”
5 “Happy”
6 “Come Get It” (feat. Miley Cyrus)
7 “Dust Of The Wind” (Feat. Daft Punk)
8 “Lost Queen”
9 “Freq”
10 “I Know Who You Are” (Feat. Alicia Keys)
11 “It Girl”

“I think I want to be dirty, girl”, Pharrell coos, over the sort of “Inside of Clouds” chords that Tyler, The Creator has beautified his career upon.

This could be a Neptunes produced Alicia Keys single from the mid 2000s.

The record opens with a flurry of strings - orchestrated by Pharrell's new BFF, the Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer,

These sentences got me excited
