Police Brutality Discussion & Solutions...

This isn't anything new and at this very moment in my life I have come to the conclusion that the police will do what comes natural to the human psyche and that is doing wrong always prevails over doing what is deemed right by the law.
It's funny how there are thousands of cases of these types of injustice occurring yearly through out the this country and that we still have a percentage of American's who think that there is nothing wrong with our justice system or that it's not the system but based on the individual. Before I and many of use living now die hopefully they will revamp something because things can't continue to go on like this where we have more and more people who are willing to resist at all cost the authority of the law sometimes for good reasons.

Things happen and in 2014 you better be aware of something much bigger going on and that is the eye behind the camera that possible could be recording your actions. In every city, town across America has a county, town, department that is known for their shady dealings and all citizens of this nation can do it protect themselves and depend on divine intervention and not man solely.

**** was Fed up.....why had to be in my city
When asked why the deputy was at the home, Breaux said, "I think one of the neighbors called them because we was cussing and cutting up on the porch."

When the deputy arrived, Breaux says he did not identify himself and tried to force his way into the residence.

The video shows the deputy trying to handcuff Breaux, and one can clearly hear Breaux repeatedly asking the officer why he is being arrested.

The deputy responded, "I don't answer to you."

Breaux says he was arrested and charged with battery of a police officer, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.

Breaux won't suggest what steps should be taken in light of the incident.

"He was forceful but I'll let Jefferson Parish decide if this officer should be punished," Breaux said.

A spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said Sheriff Newell Normand has a copy of the video, is monitoring an internal review of the matter and when he has something to say about the situation, he'll do so.

Breaux hopes that's soon.

Lots of dudes in here judging individuals negatively based on nothing that the individual had to do with... Assuming that that individual is in turn judging them negatively based on nothing that they had to do with...

The irony is strong.

No, that's not it at all. Couldn't be further from the truth, but that's the mindset they want you to have.

Ppl brought up how police treated blacks in earlier times for example. And it was common place. Minority ppl, particularly black ppl have every moral and logical reason to have strong dislike and even hatred for ALL police. Are there police that are cool and do their job? Yes. But part of that job description is still protecting and upholding an establishment/status quo that oppresses ppl, primarily black and minority ppl.

Good police are extremely rare. There's bad police and not as bad police.

Judging negatively....that's like telling a Native Indian he/she is crazy to walk around thinking white ppl are out to kill them. History says if they actually had assumed that, they might still be around...

The PD Statement from the video above^
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman, Col. John Fortunato, said an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Marmandie Avenue in River Ridge over a complaint of a man cursing at a neighbor.

When the Fourth District officer arrived at the scene, the complainant said that he and his wife were sitting outside with their children and heard their neighbor using profanity.

The neighbor told authorities he "believed he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the area where the individuals were standing."

After the neighbor asked the men to stop cursing, one of the men, who was identified as Don Rell Breaux, began cursing directly at the neighbor, his wife and children.

"The complainant expressed his desire to pursue charges against the black male who cursed at he and his family. He then directed the officer to the area where the male subjects were standing," Fortunato said in a news release.

Fortunato said the officer intended to issue Breaux a misdemeanor summons, but as the officer approached the home, the deputy could smell marijuana.

The officer requested identification from Breaux, but Breaux said he had none, but may have one inside the home.

As the officer walked with Breaux toward the door, he told him he was under arrest.

"As the officer followed him into the doorway with his handcuffs in hand, Breaux attempted to close the door on the officer. The officer continued into the home where a brief struggle ensued," Fortunato said. "The officer did in fact tell the suspect he was under arrest for resisting an officer, as indicated in the video. Breaux was eventually placed in handcuffs and taken into custody."

The video shows the deputy trying to handcuff Breaux, and one can clearly hear Breaux repeatedly asking the officer why he is being arrested.

The deputy responded, "I don't answer to you."

Breaux was arrested on charges of battery of police officer, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.

The Sheriff's Office said Breaux has previous arrests on charges of terroristic threats and acts at a school in Georgia, reckless conduct, manufacturing, distribution and possession of marijuana, simple criminal damage to property. What's not clear is whether Breaux was convicted on any or all of those charges.

A search by WDSU of several criminal court databases did not reveal any convictions, but the JPSO does claim a probation violation in Breaux's past.

The news release did not indicate any disciplinary action for the deputy seen in the video.

One of the largest mass lynchings in American history was of eleven Italians in New Orleans in 1891. The city had been the destination for numerous Italian immigrants.[sup][/sup]Nine Italians who were thought to have assassinated police chief David Hennessy, were arrested, tried and acquitted.

Subsequent to the trial, a mob stormed the jailhouse, dragging the men out and lynching them, together with two other Italians who were being held in the jail at the time on unrelated charges.[sup][/sup]

Afterward, the police arrested hundreds of Italian immigrants, most of whom were not criminals.
Happened to Italians, Irish, Germans, Pollacks, etc quite a bit during the Mass Immigration of the late 1800's-early 1900's.

As an Italian, I harbor no ill will towards police and politicians in general, only to specific individuals who were/are responsible for discrimination aka I don't stereotype.

Another closed minded gloom approach to this discussion.

Step 1 - Bundle all cops into the same category only leaving room for the occasional individual that's "not as bad"

Step 2 - Relate police who have/do harass minorities to the European settlers of hundreds of years ago and those who are being harassed to a group of people that those European settlers all but completely wiped out.

Trying to lump in an extreme and disgusting event that happened mainly in the 16th-18th century doesn't make your point relevant or valid.

Side note: When you take the approach you're taking, there is no opportunity for a solution. None. Minorities should always and forever have a "**** the police" attitude and all police will always and forever do everything they can to hold you down.

Glass empty.

ya'll ever hear of the blue wall of silence? no cop is going to testify against another cop. no cop will protest against the actions of another cop. you think this is a healthy attitude to have when you witness your senior partner commit bs against minorities and others unfairly? they probably get forced to play a part in it. this aint no movie stuff man it happens irl. civilians will tell on each other no matter what race/ethnic group. on the other hand, cops gonna cop and stay silent, and if indicted, the percentage of them who are are acquitted are dizzyingly high. so when i hear many people say "ef the police", i aint glad at em, but i aint mad at em.

This thread is wild
Some people are just small minded bruh. This is not the type of discussion to have on the internetz. Too many misunderstandings on both sides of the argument. Beyond that some people are just bigots. But they have the right to an opinion.

i agree but some of this stuff needs to be shown... its all healthy conversation in the end... as long as nobdy blows it out of proportion

True. It does need be displayed and discussed. But when Healthy debate turns in to people getting bogged down in semantics in attempts to prove someone wrong it's pointless. If you can't grasp the concept that all things are related then you can't see the bigger picture and the rules that apply to society and the world in general

Do you think those European settlers left? This is the country they "built" (yet it was my blood, sweat, tears, culture, family structure, pride, history, dignity, etc that had to be sacrificed) and the police force is tasked on keeping it the way they want it. Point blank period. It's like saying there are good military ppl to someone in Iraq. The individual soldier might not be as bad, but he's still here on the order to do what? All of this goes hand in hand. Tell a jewish person in holocaust Germany that they're are good guys working as SS, and not all are bad. Just a few.....it's the same concept.

That extreme and disgusting event never ended....it only evolved into more efficient means of physical and mental control. You think the ppl committing those acts at the time didn't have children? You think they were telling their children not to do as they see them doing, but to treat black people with dignity and respect? What do you think they're teaching their kids? Peel the layers deeper...

That sounds like a productive attitude.

Not arguing this with you anymore... You're casting bait to an entirely different argument.

You'd never know how much progress has been made over the last 150 years listening to someone like you.

i will tell my story that i tell over and over.

i was 19 at a house party it gets broken up, everyone takes off.

i cut a corner to head to the front, and when i hit the corner i run into a cop a sergeant at that, some old guy who has a bad reputation.

i didnt touch him i stopped about 8 inches or a foot away from him, it happened really fast but it was like time slowed down.

i saw his face, and he got startled, he shot off his gun towards my lower body, i somehow dove out the way and just got on my stomach.

then my ears were ringing and everything went quiet, 8 more cops came around with their guns drawn yelling to get on the effing ground.

about 2 minutes later the cops realized they had messed up so they pull me up and start questioning me and im shaking and fumbling my words.

they asked if i was running with a weapon in my hand or in a threatning manner.

me and 2 other friends that i arrived with were taken into jail, because we were the only ones over 18.

apparently the people that invited us to the party broke into a house that was for sale and decided to have a party, we were there for less than 10 minutes and even asked the cops to check my rich buddies on star, he is the son of a big time architect for the city, the other homie was rich too, his dad designed the cover for titanic.

we were questioned at the scene for almost 2 hours, i was pulled out of my cell and questioned by investigators and i drew them a diagram.

we were locked up from 12-5am, when we left they handed me a ticket that said, tresspassing, minor in possesion of alcohol and vandalism.

my 2 buddies lawyered up, but i couldnt, i pretty much always been on my own.

i never even got lunch money throughtout middle school and high school and my step pops wouldnt sign the free lunch papers
mean.gif

one of my friends told me that his lawyer said that the cops were looking into trying to charge me assault on a police officer
tired.gif

i never touched the man, then they put it in the newspaper and when it was on the local news the police spokesman was saying that i was running with something in my hand and thanks to great police training nobody was hurt..

then the reporter asked what was in my hands then he responds: well it was determined he did NOT have anything in his hands.

i called the news station a couple years later to get a copy of the story but they couldnt find it,

then the reporter asked who the cop was that shot me and he told me that homeboy is a real jerk and hates disclosing their mistakes and they often have to dig for answers.

after this i started using drugs very heavy, had bad nightmares, was afraid to go out with my friends.

i had a brother and lots of family in and out of the system and had done everything in my power to never get caught in it.

so i waited for my trial date and when i show up, it turned out NOTHING was filed.

they decided to drop EVERYTHING against me, i was relieved but the damage had been done.

i still have NO record whatsoever but when they did my background check for this new casino job it showed up,

they asked if i had ever been arrested and i said no.

then they asked me again if i had ANY experiences with em and i told em my story and they said "ok, yeah because that popped up."
mad.gif

it still shows up even though nothing ever came of it, i asked how i would get rid of that and they said theres no way.

Whenever there's threads like this, you always get the "it hasn't happened to me so it must NOT EVER happen to anyone else" dudes who just come in to draw attention to themselves and not even discuss the actual topic.

^ That's crazy.

I had a house party when I was 21. Neighbor called the cops because music was too loud. Most people ran. Those who stayed got berated by 5-0, me getting the worst of it. They flipped over tables, poured every single drop of liquor out on the grass, the proceeded to go upstairs and lift up beds look in closets, etc. They turned my house over like they were conducting a raid. We were just a bunch of young guys drinking
mean.gif
Apparently us being to loud + people running gave the cops "PC" to shake my house down.

You should be know when you see flashing lights at a party to hit your planned exit and get the hell outta there.

I always check for back doors and open windows at every house party I go to so when it comes to finding an exit im out in 5 seconds. Not taking L's

Edit: Oh it was your house.. Well, that sucks

running made you guys look sus tbh. possibly would have gone smoother without that, if the officers saw it at least.

busted parties I've been at, runners always got warrants involved. I'm in a house obeying the law, hell even if I'm smoking a little, I'm not running period. I used to every time but I noticed a trend and just stopped.

Glad you got out of that situation in good shape though.
