The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

I bought from both and they are both legit, watches don't come with the manufacturer warranty but instead their own, so YMMV when it comes to warranty work. Both charge sales tax in NY.

Buying from an AD really only helps with warranty and having the card if you ever plan to sell it, I've seen it affect the price of a watch by +/- $500 by having it or not.

It goes a little bit farther than that, to me personally, if the watch has an in-house movement, I prefer the actual manufacturer fixing it if there are any problems like Rolex for example.

Any regular ETA that regular watchmakers should be accustomed to are an easy fix and I can depend on those grey market stores for it.

Oh yeah, but you can still take to an AD and just pay them to work on it cant you?

^ didnt see how much it ended up to be [emoji]128517[/emoji]

Oh well. Was curious to see how it wears. Considering it for a daily wearer at the office. Was supposed to look for it in Tokyo since it wasn't available locally, but I didn't have enough time.

Ended up copping the two-tone GMT. Everyone's out buying junk today so I figured I may as well buy something with some real tangible value :rolleyes

What really caught my attention at the AD, however, was the two-tone rose gold Yachtmaster. Yes, a couple of pages back I said I wouldn't wear a YM if you paid me, but I was wrong. In person this watch is stunning. So much so that if it were priced similar to the GMT, I would have probably gone home with that instead. I'll revisit the idea next year.

This purchase also got me on the list for both colours of the Daytona. Estimated wait time of 18 months, which gives me long enough to decide which colour to go with.

Is that bezel still platinum or is it rose gold?

It's beuriful!

^ Rose gold. And it's nicer in person, trust. Like I said, if it was the same price as the GMT I would have gone home with it 100%.

Here's a terrible pic of the GMT I just took:

Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I almost prefer that (except when it comes time to get rid of it). GMT function also comes in handy as I deal with suppliers in Asia almost daily and I never know what time it is there.

Happy with the purchase.

When they play around with earth tones it's :smokin IMO.

That GMT > YM for everyday wear, so I think you made the right choice. If you already had the GMT that YM would be a nice addition.
