******* hate Dan Gilbert. Dude was crying about how teams stacking up their players with superstars and then goes out and does the same thing

Commissioner,

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.

This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Dan G.
F#%^ Gilbert and his team.

Son, look at all the pieces the Spurs got. The pieces they got are smart players that don't BS around, they do their job and they do have these dudes named Duncan, Ginobili and Parker. This Lakers team is trash. Nick Young doesn't do a damn thing to make this team better. We gon be trash with him and trash w/o him. If this was 09 or 2010 when we had a lot of talent he probably would be a good piece but if your team is garbage dudes like Nick Young are not gonna bring much to the table.

My dude aside from the fact that u have no clue what you're talking bout u do realize that my initial post was basically saying I hope homie works on his game and improves right? U keep ranting about how much u dislike nick young but u do realize the core of your argument is basically attacking me for wanting a guy to GET BETTER TO HELP OUR TEAM right?

Successful teams are full of guys that a good at one or two things. Danny Green = Great Shooter, Diaw = Good Passer, Ray Allen = Great Shooter, Birdman = Good Energy and Effort (practically turned the Heat's season around the year b4 last). Whether u like it or not, Nick Young can flat out score the ball. That's a great piece for any second unit on any team in the league

.@et1989: Reasons for Lakers doing what they’re doing? ---> Preserving flexibility for next year.

Nash, Lin, and Hill deals all come off (potentially) That's 26-27 mil that could come off the books.

Not saying they would use it next year, but they could try.

Say they get that top 5 pick, and a decent mid round from Houston. + Randle + Kobe's last year, (maybe Clarkson :nerd: ) and over 25 in cap space, could make a run at someone. Or save it all up for the year after when Kobe is gone, and have 50+ and those same pieces.

And Nick Young.

LeBron and Bosh both took paycuts in 2010 tho. So............?

They didn't though. They made more in Miami than they would have in TOR and CLE respectively. Net dollars does matter, it's not taking a paycut if you're making more money.

Speaking of, what happened to the trend of guys taking less :nerd: ?

Uh, what? How did they make more in Miami than they did in Cleveland and Toronto?

No state tax in FL. Same thing with Dwight and HOU, he's making more there than he would have here in LA.

Ah. So now you're excuse is they aren't really taking less money, just going to states with no taxes, so Kobe should take more to make up for his high taxes?

Brilliant on your part.

Team is obviously gonna have a tough time competing, so I'm OK with keeping Nash especially if stretching him will affect our money for next season.

Heads up everyone, we all need to truly pray that the Rockets don't match the offer sheet to Parsons. We want him to go to Dallas. We want that very much.

If we're not going to get our pick back, then we have to hope for the best with the Rockets pick, them losing Asik, Lin, and Parsons all in one year could help, especially when they are one key injury away from bein a lower West playoff team.

It's not an excuse it's a fact. Dwight is making $21 mil next season and is taking $13 mil home. Kobe is making $23.5 next season and taking $11.5 home. They're making less money. So when you're using that whole argument about MIA it doesn't hold water. They didn't lose any money at all by taking those deals with the Heat. So again you have Duncan, Ginobli, and Dirk. Where is the trend of guys taking less?

Clarkson finishes with 21/4/3 on a 61.0 TS%. Looks much better than I thought he would, esp. w/r/t his decision-making/court vision.

Damn. You go boy.

And Parker, and Bron, and Wade, and Bosh.

You can spin the taxes however you want, I'll reword it just fine.

LeBron, and Wade, and Bosh, and Duncan, and Parker, and Manu, and Dirk all took less cap space money, to help their teams succeed.

Kobe, took the highest contract in the NBA for 2 years.

There, now it's reworded for you, accurate and everything. :smokin

Kobe's "paycut" was probably more than what the big 3 gave up, combined

i habe been saying it for the trillionth time, this team.is built for income, not titles. kobes last 2 years, lin, and young are out there to sell.tickets and arouse Jack Nicolson.

agree with what uve just said, all the super stars will be old by then

I wasn't even attacking you.

All I said was dude been the same player since his Wizards days, I guess you took it as a attack and you got your pom poms out for him. Of course championship teams need role players but you don't a Nick Young for 4 damn years if your team sucks.

agreed. clownz here dunno about taxes. u think kobe being a 16plus year veteran cant find the best math wizes,.cpas, or whatever? we get the cap.space part. let kobe fry. let hkm habe cats takin kobe em9 pics and let guys stroll Santa Monica in Kobe gear.

As sam l.jackson would say, ENUFF

And again, why aren't they seemingly taking them this time in Bron and Bosh? They did it before, why not now?

Bosh got overcashed out by a desperate Riley. I have no idea why Riley did that, or what Houston was offering.

We don't even know what Bron's contract is for yet, do we?

Our next move should be getting Joel Meyers back calling our games, I was never a fan of Billy Mac.

Meaningless gripe I know, but I like Joel , he's calling the Summer League game.

Bill is such a homer he will say this team may not have that much talent but it has grit and heart and they will be the 8th seed
