Uber hustle?

why so much hatred towards taxi companies?
I can't stand most Taxi drivers in New York, DC, Miami....
Atleast you don't have to worry about being racially profiled by self hating Hispanic/Carribean other blacks with Uber most the time.
These companies are just filled with absolutely rude disgruntled unprofessional horrible drivers.
Its about to be 2016 why haven't these huge big money taxi companies equipped thier vehicles with a basic cheap navigation unit by now??
Why are there still dumb *** taxi drivers asking you to pull up your navigation on your phone to help with the destination???

I think that sums it up why I'm glad the people now have another choice of paid transportation besides these huge monopoly outdated Taxi services.

That really happens :x :x?

Man cab drivers have almost killed me on multiple occasions. I don't mess with them either. Getting in a cab is like crawling into the sewer.

They drive like they are above all traffic laws because they are Taxi drivers.

I'm glad police nail them with tickets harder than everyone else...they deserve it

I was riding in a step van with the door open. (Think ups truck) this mf almost blasted me at like 90 mph then swerves off the road once he realized he was going to kill me. I just kept going. Didn't even care to see how he was.

The cab drivers in nyc have prevented me from getting new snatch cuz they didn't know certain spots in BK. Of course my phone did as well but you are a cab driver my man.

Me: how much
Cab: how much you pay

Cab: $18

Cab: rolls down window "ok $15 lets go
Me: nope have a good day

Don't insult me with your tourist prices, atleast Uber tells you how much beforehand

Those are net earnings after Uber's cut/safe ride and all that ********?

It's easy when you have 2 kids and 2 mortgages.

It's a lot but it doesn't bother too much. I do get out of the car a good amount to stretch and kinda walk around a little

Yea. That's my net pre tax

Now my next question would be how much did you spend on tolls and gas during this week? It's a question that people avoid telling including all of Uber's PR teams because they know that the supposed 90k becomes 40k after all expenses are tallied.

dont forget about tax time :x
think they are all independent contractors

Taxes, everyone pays so I don't consider that as a big issue when it comes to false advertising. But tolls and gas are definitely an issue because it's a direct cost to the driver. Honestly when subtracting gas and tolls I see the money these uber drivers make almost identical to what the yellow cabs and black cars make in NYC. But I know what you're trying to get at since you have a lot more out of pocket costs as a contractor.

They aren't exactly as disruptive of a technology like they make themselves up to be. There is a nice article in the Harvard Business Review on how it's not as disruptive as how we define disruptive technology in the business world. But hey, if it's more money than you would be making doing something else then more power to all the drivers.

I'm driving a Prius so it's not too bad. It's about $65-80 a week for gas. Passengers pay for toll(I'm in SF) but I'm not sure if it's like that everywhere.

As far as taxes. This is my first year so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm planning on putting 25% of what I make to cover taxes, insurance, gas, and maintenance. I'm not too worried the taxes itself. I've heard you can write off pretty much everything including lunch and haircuts. My plan is to have a separate bank account with its own debit card and pay for everything with the card. That way I can just give that to my tax person and not have to worry about keeping receipts.

My homie told me that a friend of his got his taxes from $10K down to $3K but I don't know if it's true or not.

You can def make decent money driving Uber but that means you have to drive during rush hour/surge times and weekends. It's not worth it if you just wanna drive around on your free time for an extra couple bucks unless it's surging.

Passengers pay the toll if your "on the clock." I've complained and been reimbursed for a few tolls where my ride took them through a toll and going back through was the only feasible way to go.

You definitely cant write off personal meals and haircuts for Uber, legally. Of course you can and hope you dont get audited, but thats risky and not recommended

So hypothetically, if I go out tomorrow and buy a car specifically to use for uber with a monthly car note with insurance, could I write off all if that for taxes assuming I only use the car for uber?
