I rock wit Troy Ave, but he kinda got killed by this Vice article

Troy is independent and sold 5K. Not great but not a flop. Amazon doesn't even have the CD, I tried to buy it. Smh

Lil Durk is on Def Jam and sold a little over 20K

Dom K just did 22.5k indie with his weakest project yet :lol:

I'll give dude his credit tho he been in the game 10+ had a stint with Def Jam, etc and he still ain't gave up on his dream
 
Wasnt Troy getting airplay with All About The Money too? My ppl were playing that ish like it was popular and dude cant push more than 5k?? Cmon now
5k aint good, independent or not especially when youre kinda known

30 physical CDs too? Nipsey sold his FREE MIXTAPE FOR 1000 dollars and more ppl bought that then Aves album. Dude signed a distribution deal and the album aint even get distributed lol. He doin it ALL wrong

Nipsey is MUCH bigger than Troy Ave. Troy should have dropped his album months ago, when All About the Money and Your Style were popping. Those songs all died done and now he released it. I never said 5K was good. Most digital albums sell around 10-20 first week and then die around 30-40.
 
5k is what local dudes in my city sell. These same dudes also have those tapes out for free but at least 6k copies get sold off support.
 
I didn't know Troy Ave, Lil' Durk, nor Dom Kennedy were all releasing albums :lol: I'm actually impressed with the Durk sales though.

Also, I'm pretty sure digital + albums sales, Troy Ave sold more than Kreayshawn :lol: She thought she was doin' it on twitter and she got roasted out the gym
 
I guess you can look at it from the perspective of him pocketing 90% of those sales (if he somehow finessed all of those big name guest features and the producers

) . . . but damn. Dom sold 20k with his only promo being a few posts on Twitter/IG, no singles no videos no nothing. Troy had Your Style, About The Money, Real ***** and Doo Doo and still sold 5k and 30 physicals.

It's hard out here. Artists might have to find another way to monetize other than album/EP sales lol.

Sidenote: I wonder how Cash Money/Master P would have done on the independent grind if they had the internet.

I can understand not liking his music but dudes straight up hate this ***** and I don't even know what he did

I like the NYC tape but I don't never even hear much about this dude to understand where it's all coming from
 
I heard it's only a certain percentage of his final sales.

But if this is true, NY took 10 steps backwards with this.
 
only thing i ever heard form Troy Ave was beat the pvssy up...that was his breakout hit right? This dude gets no play where I'm from, not dissing him, just stating the facts
