At the end of the day, players need to be asking themselves if their lives reflect the riches they earned through the course of their careers.

That what really matters.

yap yap yap.

You mention me discrediting Jordan. You don't know what "discredit" means.

Knicks making it to the ECF is a possibility

This 2014 FA just tells me one thing more,
NBA doesn't need a salary cap.

Stop it..

Your clueless you belong in general..
Your avy says everything..
35 yrs old with a pair of space jams in your avy

lol "mate" your a 35 year old troll that knows nothing about basketball..

Smiles. Space Jams though. You know a lot about nothing

But Dirk is really the only one who's done this so far. Pretty much every other deal that's been handed out, with a few minor exceptions, the guys are getting overpaid. Hard for me to say the players are getting screwed when guys like Channing Frye, Chandler Parsons, Dewayne Wade, etc. are all getting way more money than the probably deserve.

All in ALL If we are talking pure value to a franchise and how much money was earned.... Wade is seeing a MUCH smaller percentage of the money he deserves!!

I'm sure that loyalty was shown when Cuban along with other owners made these guys go from getting 57% of basketball related income to 50%.

**** outta here man. Get yours while you can, in any walk of life.

So are you giving your boss back money just because he's a good dude and will look out for you supposedly?

Even if you've played for more than a decade and already have enough money for you and your family to be set for life?

That's not the point..... the point is someone who is the reason why a business is doing so well and accumulating 100's of millions of dollars a year shouldn't be relegated to undervaluing himself.

Then when the lockout happens we still have more owners complaining about how their not making ENOUGH money off of their teams.

Should the NBA have a salary cap or nah?

But its not like he was forced to sign that contract with the Mavs. He had options. He could have signed a max deal with another team. He made a conscious business decision to take less because he feels there's other, less tangible value to staying with the Mavs. He's not undervaluing himself -- he's just calculating his value in way that's different than you think he should.

The owners came up with the cap tho

building a winner under a cap they created should be their problem

instead superstars are supposed to take less while everyone around them gets over paid

and the owner keeps bringing in boatloads of money

D-Wade on course to play full Miami career w/o ever being top-paid player on any Heat team (E.Jones, Shaq, Marion, J.O'Neal, LeBron, Bosh)

Put Dirk's deal down as umpteenth example of the Rout of the Century that NBA owners foisted upon the union in last labor negotiations

LeBron is right to refuse to take any more pay cuts. The LeBrons and Dirks and Duncans shouldn't have to do this to help their teams win

Why can't the Clippers get in on Latino heritage night? They're in LA and have plenty of Hispanic fans. Just more merch for the NBA to sell, so why not?

Why should players think like that. You think these owner got that mindset?

I have no problem with a player who wants to get all he can and max out on every contract. But I'm also not going to say that a guy who's made 100s of millions over his career is "jeopardizing" himself by "settling" for only $8 million a year.

 Right. Dirk isn't doing anything that thousands of other people in different businesses all over the country haven't done.

The value of staying in Dallas and surrounding himself with talent > max dollars somewhere else...

That's his prerogative and it wasn't forced on him. Acting like this is some mockery because of the CBA is asinine. There are issues with the current deal, but using Dirk or Duncan as examples are completely ridiculous.

I can't wait for the season to start though.
I need to see some things come to fruition.

Was watching ESPN this morning and heard the guy say..."if Rose is healthy......."

My new phone ring, snippet of that line, no ring ring, just "if Rose is healthy"

LeBron wasnt the highest paid player on the Cavs at any point during his first stint there either.
