DJ Mustard unappreciation

tinashe's "2 on" wasn't originally a mustardonthebeatho. Mike Will heard the song before and told the original producer to give it to Mustard because it sounded like a Mustard beat..

“There was a record cut before that and [Mike Will] actually went to the label and was like, yo, if you don’t get Mustard to do this song over, then its gonna be a fraud”

Mustard dont know any music theory man. dude just be pressing buttons. not mad at him at all but he wont be relevant in 2-3 years when the sound of whats hot changes

This is where the convo starts and ends, IMO.

He's just a dude who pokes around on the keyboard and finds happy little riffs that go together. Lex and Chop have much much much more intuition (not sure if I'd say they have traditional theory, but it's definitely knowledge of scales, even if it's self-taught).

props to him for gettin in the game and carving a slice out for himself and the west coast but at the same time i can easily see his formula running dry real quick. oversaturation.

10 Summers might be too big of a dose for me. Still haven't been able to get all the way through it.

Mustards so replaceable man, that Iggy "Fancy" song wasn't even produced by him, though it sounds like it was...he don't have a formula that nobody can't do

Idk, it's looking like that might not be true for Dre anymore.

Unless he produced that "It's Alive" song with Kendrick from the beats commercial then I could be wrong and he may still got it.

Man Dre "got it" dude has a vault with like 2000 songs in it, I'm sure there are some classics in there that we will never hear
