The Thread About Nothing. SNEAKER EDITION

the 1s are overrated... it resembles the dunks too much for me to take them seriously....

Textbook example of why we need neg reps. That post deserves the largest rolling stoneface possible.

Speaking of AJ1, what do you guys think of these AJ1-inspired Weapon customs?
They're all nice. I like the Shadows

Cons should get more color options for their outsole on those Weapons

I got a question, if I wear a size 9 for my Vans, should I get an 8.5 for my Chuck Taylors?

I's are mad overrated.

They weren't much more than a last ditch effort to get MJ to sign with Nike. The AJ1 is an afterthought model of the Dunk that was hastily produced so Nike could sign MJ by giving him his own shoe.

Prior to 1985 The Georgetown Hoyas would usually get a special makeup Nike shoe that varied slightly from the rest of the NCAA. For 1985 Nike had designed a shoe for the Hoyas, now often referred to as the "Air-Hoya" while the rest of the NCAA was slated to wear the Dunk. This "Air-Hoya" was little more than a modified version of the dunk with attached leather ankle supports and an extra strip of leather at the midfoot.

When Nike signed Jordan it was under the condition that he would get his own shoe for his rookie year. Since designing and putting a shoe into production is very expensive, Nike decided their best option was to take the pre-existing design for the "Air Hoya", add a winged basketball logo and turn it into the "Air Jordan".

Overall, I feel like the AJ1 is less premium than the Dunk. It was essentially an afterthought or takedown model. I say this because the sole and midsole on the AJ1 has less detail than the dunk and the tongue of the AJ1 is MUCH cheaper looking and less durable due to the lace stabilizer being cut directly through the tongue instead of and extra piece being stitched on. There has even been a long standing debate over whether or not the AJ1 actually uses Air, even though they sport the "Air" moniker on their tongue.

Objectively speaking, I's aren't popular because they're a good shoe. They're popular because of the man who wore them and his legacy. Had it not been for MJ, the I would be little more than another forgotten shoe of the 80s.

Uhhhh... But MJ did wear them.

And they were his first signature shoe.

End of story

Mj is basically the reason this website exists, let's not get things confused.

I think the grey ones just hit the states or sum. Want a pair of SGs but not sure if a 13 gone fit.

Everybody in the huarache thread says .5 or 1 up.
If u use the bday coupon...just download it on your phone and show em...all huaraches are like 85 which is a great deal imo.

^Whats the deal on those grey ones?

Those look great :nthat:

Grey ones came out a little while ago but my champs still had em.

Sgs are 8)
I havent scooped but I see people wearin em everywhere.
I still want those and the undefeateds but the undefeated ones are only overseas rite now

 Just sharing a little history about the SHOE itself.

Speaking of AJ1s... I find it odd that the SB AJ1s are using the "OG" construction with the exposed edges. Seems like the retro+ construction with the rolled edges would be more durable and conducive to skating. But I guess 99% of the people buying them, aren't actually going to be skating so its kind of a moot point.

Don't think that many scooped the SB1s to skate in. I really wanted them to wear to my performances to see how the paint comes off.

Seen those posted eariler and they are flames. Reminds me of the Rouge KD4s, which are dope. :pimp: IDK my foot is weird as hell sometimes, so hopefully a size 13 fits good, GL on the coupon too.

I agree with AJ1's being overrated. They're too thin. Tried them on numerous times and each time I tried them I could literally feel the ground through the shoe. Preferences....

Man yall must live in some hood areas or something my marshalls never had kicks like those. It mostly polo, tombs, and sports stuff really.

They have a marshalls in this rich neighborhood around here with like gucci....rl (like 500$ ^ stuff)...they had wheat timbs for 60....

I remember seeing the 2k9s at a marshalls....they had a weird *** box.

Marshalls all closed round here....just tj maxx.

Ive seen some nice stuff at ross tho.

Went to Niketown to get the Garnett III's and they were sold out in my size and copped these instead. Rick Fox wore them when he played for the Lakers. I hope for a retro although I doubt it. This shoe was underrated....

^ :wow: Haven't seen those in forever ! One my my friends loved that shoe. Had the white ones and black pair.

edit: Just looked them up again... apparently they made an all blue colorway I had never seen. :smokin
