If not for these last 3, we'd basically be in position for the #2 pick.

And the front office isn't going to buy out a single vet, so they will play their final 24 games as Lakers, impacting our future.

Complete, utter, failure on multiple levels. :smh:

Starting with a DD loss to okc on sun. In the next 10, Essential, only the knicks at staples pose a threat to a w.....correct?.

They could win 4 of the next 10 for all I know.

Charlotte, Miami, Detroit, Knicks, Utah.. And if Russ is out, count OKC too.

11th game Philly.

I've pretty much had it with the whole thing.. I'm rooting for losses, if they win, they win. If we lose the pick, we lose the pick. Tonight was pretty much the culmination of not caring anymore.

I'm taking comfort in E's post from a few days ago, that if Orlando's pace of winning/losing holds, the Lakers will need to go .500 the rest of the way to catch them.

It feels like we could be taking advantage of Minny/Philly/NY but meh, whatever. It could be worse than 4th.

Magic are on pace for 26. So it's .400 (10-15)

If current pace holds, we win 23.04 games (7-18). Not enough to round up. For T'Wolves to pass us, have to go 11-14.

Ah, that's it.

10-14 doesn't seem as impossible but still should be a pipe dream for this team. Just hope the Magic (and Kings/Nugs) can at least hold steady.

It's simple math and we aren't playing the odds. We're going in the wrong direction, making those other team's wins meaningless. If they lose this pick, I'm done with these clowns until another regime comes in. Tired of the blatant stupidity.

if jerry buss was alive right now he and adam silver would be in a hot tub with 10 playmates convincing him to fix the draft and get us a #1 pick

jim buss is probably at home watching storage wars

It would be nice if laker fans didn't feel like the team needed to lose every last game just for a chance of being a top 5 lottery pick. This is the Sam Hinkle effect, dude went full ****** and now other teams are forced to keep up with him

Notice how all the tanking teams won. Yes, from a tanker's perspective it would have been a great day to lose but at the same time it just goes to show that even intentionally losing games isn't fool proof. Not sure having clarkson in for the 4th quarter actually helps the tank for instance. When you bench your hottest player and still win kinda just have to tip your hat

if the lakers lose the pick because of 1 or 2 wins they had no business winning, CP will turn darth vader as in episode 3. E will play kenobi as he uses the force to come up with cap and player scenarios to calm the thread. had pants will post relevant gifs playing r2d2.

Nash kobe randle xavier out Ronnie price out for the year nick young mystery injury Tarik black dnp clarkson benched Robert ******* sacre starting at center ryan kelly playing out of position....lakers doing everything short of going full ****** and rostering Mexican league players. Team would be 6 deep if you buyout boozer/ellington/hill who aren't all that good anyway

The starting 5 was literally coming off the bench a few days ago. They switched the starters with the bench of a 10 win team and are still winning games. Worst season in franchise history. The starting 5 includes the last player of the draft, 2 Second rounders, wayne ellington who I had no idea who this guy was prior to this year and Carlos boozer. If we had red white and blue jerseys with 'Philadelphia' across the front it would be considered blatant tanking. 3 game winning streak. I mean...

If they're not going to buy them out then don't ******* play them late in games and have them steal wins like Lin did the other night and Ellington tonight. It's not rocket science. You're down double digits in the 4th, wave the white flag. Jeez.

The sad part is, we very well may keep our pick........at 5. We could finish 4th, one team jumps, 5th pick.

Okafor
Towns
Russell
Mudiay

All gone.

So we can have double digit comeback wins from guys that won't be here next year. :smh:

I hate this ****** franchise.

Our best hope is the 2017 lockout gives some power back to the players, and we get a smidge of outspending ability back. Because clearly our front office is overmatched.

We all see a garbage head coach in Byron, who openly dismisses analytics, is horrid in late games, doesn't put his players in their best spots, yet the FO allows him to keep trying to set a winning culture, after not doin that in November, or December, or January, or even February, but let's keep risking our future on Byron Scott, Boozer, Wes, Wayne Ellington and Jeremy Lin. 5 guys all out before the 2016 season. :smh:

Zero forward thinking. I'm ******* sick of it. Offering max money to Melo. Not enhancing tank last year. Holding assets too long. Inactive back to back deadlines with lost seasons. Giving up assets for aging vets. Horrible contracts. Bad coaching hires.

When the **** does it end? :frown:

My ******* Cubs are 900 times better than my Lakers right now. Absolutely unbelievable. :smh:
I wish Theo knew basketball. :frown:

It never ends . That's the thing, it never ends. Lakers could buy out what's left of the roster, have the worst season in the history of any sports franchise and we would still get complaints about David stockton and stromile swift hurting our draft position. It's like guys refuse to accept you just can't control it. Guys probably wouldn't be satisfied with going 0-82. The Sixers are going all out and they still win games. Knicks have guys out there chucking the ball over the backboard into the 5th row on open layups and still get Ws against superstar reggie jackson led teams. It is what it is

You missing the point but continue to cook.

No explain the point then. "We're not playing the odds". We're starting Robert sacre at center. The point is, they're called odds for a reason. It's not a sure thing. You can't guarantee a loss anymore than you can a win. All you can do is put yourself in position. We benched the hot hand. It's been said that nick young is our best player. He's mysteriously hurt. We're not going to lose every game. It's the nba where even bums like jeremy lin, wayne ellington and whoever the hell is on the knicks/Sixers can keep you in games

The guys you want to buy out have to be replaced. Ronnie price essentially bought out. Ronnie price, undrafted washed up journeyman sitting at home watching sportscenter when he gets called up. Now you have to play clarkson, rookie 2nd rounder. Clarkson benched, you're relying on JEREMY LIN. Undrafted turnover prone point guard Jeremy lin. Who would you replace ellington with? Jason richardson? Past his prime vet that hasn't played in 2 seasons. 12 points on 4/9 tonite. How bout Wesley "I'm a bum" johnson who just got done torching the celtics. Give boozer's minutes to who? Thomas robinson fresh off the scrap heap? 9 points 9 rebounds. It's not so cut and dry as step 1 buy out players step 2 obtain top 3 pick.

They'll do what you allow them to do man. If course we don't have influence over what happens but the people who do, mainly management and the coach do have the say in what happens directly.

To ensure we don't drop or if the top four we need to be in the top 3. There's a myriad of ways to do this that I won't rehash, but it's a combination of having the coach and management working in concert with each other. I don't even blame the players too much they are going to play keeping their own interests in mind. But the coach and management can limit or eliminate those options thereby successfully preserving the all important pick.

Yes Ellington, Lin, Boozer etc aren't all world players but they're still pros with experience that have proven to be capable players much more so than the young guys. They're not in the plans for us next year, they're only goal is to get their stock up and audition for other squads so why do you have them in the game when you're down double digits? Why not give Clarkson, Black, he'll even Sacre and Kelly those minutes to actually see what you have as you try and evaluate the pieces that actually hopefully will be here going forward. Them being younger and inexperienced likely would not lead to those same results of them trying to get their's and sabotaging our efforts. If the kids end up stealing a game fine there's at least something to draw from that going forward. But all these vets just eying the next payday, that's when it becomes asinine and useless.

D'Antoni did the exact same thing with Nick Young last year, dude was in a contract year and shouldn't have been in the plans but he trotted him out there anyway and the fool single handedly win games at the end of the year.

We're not expecting them to lose every game that's unrealistic. But when you have the opportunity to be at the number 2 position right now and you go on a 3 game streak for no reason with guys who won't be here next year it just didn't make sense. I for one just expecting some common sense to see that we're at a crossroads now that could go great or very terrible. The decisions or lack thereof being made do not reflect that urgency, there's no direction or logic being used. I mean every paper out here, pundits, reporters, and analysts both local and national see it, why do the guys running the show have on Stevie Wonder glasses? You don't have to Heinke it to work, there's subtle ways to make stuff easier on yourself and they're doing NONE of it from the top down to the dumb *** coach.

I had fears of February slowing down the tank, but they were calmed until the last week. :smh:
