Americans taking fewest vacation days in four decades

I use all of my PTO days one way or another. When I was at Wells Fargo I cashed out a couple of them :pimp:

No PTO needed at my new job though :pimp:

Unless I got something major planned im def taking all my days with this current job.

Spoke to someone else I work with and he told me they don't pay you for your days if you quit or get fired.

Had over 2 weeks worth of days at my last job, loved that check when I quit.

Currently have like 2 days of accrued PTO at the current job, using my first one today.

I'm on paid vacation as I type this, and what kills me the most is that of the week I have off, the first two days were essentially just catching up on lack of sleep from being overworked. We have to take vacations to enjoy our vacations. This **** is ludicrous.

My last job I used all my vacation time. I was glad to be gone. This new one though, I'm a bit wary of missing a lot of days. I'm in a brand new field and don't want to miss out on any learning opportunities until I'm more seasoned.

Sheettt I've only worked 9 of these 10 months this year.

Just got off a staycation yesterday.

I work too hard not to take my it off.

If they didn't want me taking it they shouldn't have given me the time.

I've used a lot this fall....mines stacked up cause I only work three 12 hour shifts a week so if I had something to do I would just schedule myself around it

But I finally decided to start using some and I love the time off

1-2 day work weeks >

I read a book about this from the 80s lol

I usually take a full week off and nickle and dime a few long weekends. Just a flat out day off is the best tho. Relaxing just doin whatever.. Some people do that all the time I guess lol

Isn't there a law in europe where people have to take a lot of vacations? and also business hours doesn't get past 7pm because they believe people should be spending more time eating with family when it comes to dinner time?

Not I. I was in the hole for a few weeks.

I know a lot of people that dont even TRY to take real vacations. They just want Mondays and Fridays off. :smh:

I think in Europe u get 4 weeks mandatory.

I get about 4 weeks vacation a year. So far this year have only taken about 2 weeks worth, and I had about a week and a half roll over from last year. Need to take some before the end of the year since I can only roll over 2 weeks worth. Never use up all mine because I think I want to save it for a vacation that either never happens or I don't need as much vacation time for as I had thought.

A lot of people can't afford to take vacations, a high percentage of people live paycheck to paycheck.

instead of people not taking vacation because they can't go anywhere, the issue (as i see it) are people being intimidated/shamed by management if they request it...

If your living paycheck to paycheck you can't afford to actually go anywhere....

Indeed. But might as well take a staycation. You get however many PTO days allotted to you and you getting paid for em so why not get paid to sit on the couch and eat Cheetos. I know imma use up all my days whether I go somewhere or not

Yea this is what the issue is. People don't want to look slack. But **** it they give you those days might as well use em

Ive never heard of such...

Nowadays you dont even talk to anyone face to face to request time off.

I've gotten used to staycations. And I actually like them more and more. I'd go to AC, NYC, Poconos whatever for three quick and random weekends. Feels great.

I prefer to cash out my PTO's. I take regular vacations yearly anyway and I'm the type that needs to be busy Mon-Fri or I get bored out of my mind just sitting at home. I rarely ever get sick but I'm not against an inclement weather-day or two either

This happens a lot from my corporate bothers, and god forbid if they don't have kids.

Where do you live? Those sound like weekend trips, not staycations. I thought Staycation are when you do stuff close by to your house.

Anyway I agree that people need to take their leisure time more serious and take weekends trips like you're doing.

But people still need to be taking extended vacations, nothing recharges the batteries like not having to worry about a damb thing for 9 days. :smokin

You delusional bruh. Finna be in for a rude awakening.

We've all been fooled. We're overworked, underpaid, highly stressed, and own almost nothing.

Some get lucky, but for the most part, we kept selling out the worker to the boss for nothing but stress and fear.
This.

The system is designed to keep is busy. No one has time to read and form actual opinions about political matters.

We have minimal time so we just soak up all the crap the media feeds us.

Changes need to be made, people need to stop siding with parties and learn facts about issues and about how their "representatives" vote on those issues.
