Gratz to all those who were successful.

Might as well share my story. I paid for 3 ATC slots (2 from lightningrsvp, 1 from RSVPers). Well it took 45 minutes to log into either of my NDC accounts and only the size 13 from RSVPers got carted. I get all the way through the checkout process and get the Cary jacked message. I try again and again and about 30 minutes later the pair gets put back in my cart and lo and behold, I get cart jacked again.

So, while at work today, a lot was put into perspective. I've wasted a good amount of the past decade and much money buying shoes with nothing to show for it. So, this release was the final straw. The sole decision that made me realize that buying these shoes aren't even worth it anymore. At 30 years old, I'm finally free from this hobby for good. Infrared 6s, which I have a pair on lock in store, Fragment 1s, and that's it. I don't want to go to another sneaker show, I don't want friends who base their life around sneakers, I just don't want a part of it at all. I feel like I kicked a major drug habit and have had a real epiphany. I've had my run, and am blessed enough to say that I have had just about every colorway and mostly every sneaker I ever wanted

No need to get so sensitive and give up.

Name another "hobby" where if you change your mind you can sell that item for more then what you paid for it, sometimes 2-3-4-5-6x more then what you paid, and they are only a couple days old? It's a business, not just for the Jordan brand but for the hawks out there too. If you like jordans get the general releases and have fun with it, try for the limited releases and be happy if you get in, cant get upset when you lose out on a DB, did you really think you had 100% chance at a DB to begin with? If so, your thinking was a flawed. For example I want legend blues, yes I know there will be 10x more legend blues then DBs made, but the hype is real for them and it might get crazy, so there is a chance I will strike out, I will try, and if i fail I am not going to get pissed and quit with the sneaker game. It's still fun, and good/bad news is there weill be another release a week later, and probably restrocks as well.

I am not throwing shots at you at all, I am just saying you need to lower your expectations. When 10 times the amount of people go after anything (not just jordans) that is released. Expect to be let down or expect to pay the price or maybe once in a while you get lucky.

SO I GOTTA TELL THIS STORY:

As you know, I've been busy begging for carted pairs and asking people for help. On twitter the homie DM'd me tryna send me a carted pair---but she couldn't. THEN THIS RANDOM #NT'ER who I asked this morning to help RANDOMLY asked for my NDC info. I give it to 'em. FIVE SECONDS LATER I CHECK MY ACCOUNT AND THERE'S A PAIR IN MY CART AND I WAS ABLE TO CHECK OUT!!!!

Man I swear I love #NT and the sneaker community. It's a lot douches out there but it's still a handful of good people. HERE HERE!!!! I COOKED! I FINALLY COOKED!!!!

Nice... glad you were able to cook :pimp: :nerd: :nerd: :nerd: :nerd:

I love NT...

I don't think he is being "sensitive". I think he just finally came to the realization that the game is becoming a waste of time, money, and effort, all for some over-price and over-hyped shoes. I think everyone will get to that point at some time in their sneakerhead life. It just hit me about a month ago. Just my humble opinion

so you kicked your habit but have to get infrared 6's and fragment 1's???

ill see you when the columbia 11's drop:lol:

You won't see me bruh, I don't like Columbia (Legend Blue) 11s and have always been my least favorite of the OG 11 colorways. And after I get those two, I'll be good for a nice little minute. I've had multiples of all my favorite colorways and am burned out. For example, I've had 6 pairs of Bred 1s in their various iterations (Banneds included) and 3 pairs of Royals (1985, 2001, and 2013). Legend Blue 11s go on sale for 40 bucks and I still wouldn't cop.

I have a solid connect for GRs but don't like anything that has been dropping. I skipped every 6 that dropped this year the only ones I wanted besides Infrareds, the Slam Dunks, I struck out on. I just can't spend 185 a retro now when the leather feels worse than Payless shoes that I used to wear back in the early 90s

In addition, at some point you have to assess when you have control of the hobby or when a hobby has control of you. For me, it was the latter. I'm much more content skipping releases and have much more to show for it. I'm a adult now and will always have the memories and stories, but I have a clothing line that is gaining more traction by the day and I love doing that. Not to mention my profit from that dwarfs the profit from what people get selling most "heat"sneakers these days. As for upcoming releases, I realize that most Jordans can't be pulled off by me casually anymore which is why I wear the Jordan 1 most of the time. And before I pay 400-500 for overpriced garbage, I'd sooner grab some Python Filling Pieces of another luxury shoe

I would normally agree but as we all know there are so many different type of sneakerheads from
a Not so serious sneaker head, someone who is fine with GR's dont even consider rares, they are happy with whatever they can pickup.

a Collector who treats it like a hobby/side thing that enjoys it: no such thing as waste of time or money or effort. You meet a lot of cool people in the sneaker world and even become friends with some.

a Hypebeast, someone who wants every popular release and gets salty when they miss out: Yes they are wasting time, money and effort. They are in it for the wrong reasons.

a Flipper: No such thing as waste of money, you have people paying their mortgage literally flipping Js even GR's

Those are just examples, there are some people that are a bit of all of them. I am not a flipper but if I can get a DB8 that isn't my size and trade it straight up for (2) ds releases my size that I want, I would do it in a second.

A lot of hawks are on the outside looking in, you have people buying DBs for $180, insta-selling them for $500+. You don't thing people see this? Non sneaker heads swoop in, they start offering backdoor $$ to managers, bots, atc's you name it. Look how many pics circulated of people copping 10+ DB8s yet a real sneaker head couldn't get 1. We just need to curb expectations thats all and come to realize you WONT get all the releases, you WONT get all the releases you specifically want, unless you are willing to pay on the secondary market for them. I had decent sneaker connects and even they couldn't get me my size of every release, because there are people above them supplying some other people.

Sneakers is one of the only hobbies I can think of that it's actually hard to lose money on, so its worth for some to put time in. If you are picking up at retail, in 2 weeks you can
1) keep
2) sell at a profit 80% of the time
3) sell at retail 99% of the time
4) return it 100% of the time

If you are in this and losing money, you are doing it all wrong. And you only lose if you are selling, I have a friend who overpaid on some Space Jams, I think hes crazy, yet he loves them and is happy as hell he got them regardless of price

Some people had it lucky.. especially in the GS range.. My expectations are low.. i just wish they would have sold out sooner so i could went back to bed..lol the shoe game is for rich people anyways..lol

Great testimony.. I love the sneaker game but yeah it sucks that shoes cost too much and for some shoes u have to go to soo many measures to lock a pair.. I took a break myself and now I'm kinda back in it.. but i think next year once they keep messing up foams thats going to be enough for me to get out of the high end shoes..lol

and someone like me..

I like what i like.. i buy what i like.. i take care of my shoes and i keep them fresh even down to the ice sole.. I dont have any intentions of selling or trading.. (except for those lame Lil Penny Posite Shooting stars)i just wish shoes were easier to get.. i hate hypper beasts and resellers and anyone or anything that boosts the price up for these shoes.

Exactly I mean i just threw out examples. I had to curb my expectations a long time ago cause I was trying to get every AF1 release out and it got insane. Now it is what it is. I trade a lot for stuff I want, I also hookup my friends if something falls on my lap

I got a DB8, Penny DB and Patroit LF1 for my girl, if she doesnt like the DB8's I will sell them. I know she wants the other 2 for sure though.
I got a Patroit LF1 for myself.

I struck out, she struck gold. I am not mad though, I am surprised I got 4 sneakers in the past 24hrs lol

It's too easy to get frustrated with sneakers now cause so many people are treating it like a full time job, so a collector that has a job and does this for fun is losing out. My point was not to be that person that says "screw it im selling it all, I am done"

I am trying to keep people away from that Croc life
