My dude I feel you, but how as men are we supposed to know which women will feel threatened at basic social behavior? Should we take a guess? Avoid greeting them altogether? Adopt Saudi Arabian customs where we don't acknowledge them at all? Because from my point of view saying hi on the streets is basic human social behavior and if that threatens them something is wrong with them not the male party

The tweet/quotes is about literally saying "hi" to someone. Yes, I would say hi to someone if I was walking with my parents. Might even get frisky and say hey. This is honestly ridiculous. If you're scared because someone says hi to you, then thats your issue.

I don't have the answers bro I'm just saying at the end of the day you are a stranger. Didn't your parents tell you not to talk to strangers? There are crazy people out here and you have to be alert and aware. Especially if you're a single woman by yourself, it could be scary. We are men, we won't understand what a girl feels when a man approaches her out of the blue.
 
All I'll say is this, women don't want to be harassed, until they're in the club or bar and a free drink is involved. THEN they don't mind being harassed. Women don't want to be harassed with a "good morning". Until Idris Elba says it. Or a celebrity in general. Or someone wih a lot of money. THEN they want to be harassed.

I noticed she was in some parts of Brooklyn and Harlem, areas full of minorities. She also was in midtown and Times Square where street cats literally loiter all day and night. What was she expecting.? It just seems super targeted...

For those comparing greetings, the point is what is the purpose of the Hi. Me, walking in my neighborhood and saying hi to others who live in my neighborhood is not because I deem them appetizing and trying to see if I can score and get them in bed. Most of these men when they cat-call are trying to pick a girl up.

A woman or anyone for that matter should not feel uncomfortable for being harassed with unwarranted cat-calls and hollering because they are being preyed on as a piece of meat.

So some of you would accept this if it was your mom or sister being cat-called?

i think you answered your own question. If you want to "holla" go to the right venues (club, party, etc), maybe the behavior in the streets needs to be different.
