The Official Black Mirror Thread: Season 6 on Netflix Now

Google MmmmBeatdatass-Raw look exactly like the type of chick she played. Make everyone fall in love with her.

Got through with the season over the weekend.
I actually liked episode 5 Men against Fire. Having done some sub contract work on gvmt defense for some years the premise is not something that can/has happen :nerd:

Episode 1 Nosedive had me the most hyped from the trailer but dissapointed with the ending. Once i saw Rashida Jones was invloved i can see why this was more of a comedy. :smh:

Episode 6 Hated in Nation was decent but a little dragged out (1hr 30 minutes) and felt more like a mix of CSI / X files.

Everyone likes episode 4 San Junipero. Initially i didn't like it as much since it did kind of have a cheesy ending. But the way it was directed, scenery, soundtrack all really made it a memorable episode. Thats the one episode i keep thinking back to.

Episode 2 and 3 were more familiar to past Black Mirror so they had some good parts in it.

Kind of mad i binged through all of them now gotta wait who knows how long until the next season. :rolleyes

I think our 3 year droughts between Seasons is over.

Netflix probably already paid for more episodes than they gave us.

Maybe y'all missed the part of my post where it's because I was disgusted with these characters, how they live and the story that I did not like the ep. I aint trippin, I just ain't like those ************* or their story.

I did not enjoy watching this type of society at all and I didn't really turn around much when she lost it.

I can't think of things I liked about the ep other than wanting to bang Alice and Bryce. Their acting was fine, direction was good. I'm not saying the ep was horrible. I just did not care for the story. Its cool if yall salvaged some stuff out of it but I didn't.

I mean cmon, ******* forcing mad hard to be nice for 5 star ratings? Why would I like that especially when it's just the downfall of a fake birch and her liberating herself from it/nervous breakdown. They weren't even using a scale out of 8

So for me the season didn't have a great start. I ain't watch the final 2 eps yet but as of now 6 eps instead of 4 didn't make it better and I know which 2 eps so far I could do without.
Agreed, I mentioned that I knew I was gonna be pissed off by the entire story just 2 minutes into the episode. The whole episode was a journey through cringe, desperation, and vapid soullessness.

The ending is especially telling. Those who don't consent to the forced norms get banned/killed off from society. Sound familiar?

While it wasn't my favorite episode, I think the political/social themes resonated the most with me.

ep1 was dope for the story it told.

Rashida was the perfect person to pull for an episode like that tbh.

I can't lie, San Junipero almost had me crying at the end. I was hooked from the first scene and was invested the whole way through. On the surface it was a beautiful love story, but as the story started unfolding it got much more deeper. Initially I thought it had to do with time travel and perhaps this setting was caught in a time loop. But the end result was much more intriguing and thought provoking. This episode has been elevated to near goat status for me ( replacing The Entire History of You as my favorite BM episode). Just to reiterate what has already been said : both actresses did a superb job ( poster a couple pages was right) at certain points in the episode Gugu looked exactly like Kerry Washington, setting was seamlessly recreated, fashions were outstanding ( even dude rocking the Brooklyn Express task to in the 2002 era), and everything else was on point for me.

100% agree with all of this. And the "entire history of you" episode is my favorite as well, and agreed this at least ranks the same for me, if not better.

That's what I like about black mirror and the stories. They use the technology of today and take a logically step of where it might it go. What I love is we are already entering a world where you social media rankings matter.

Remember when IG did that purge of fake accounts. Remember when Mase the rapper went from a couple million to like a hundred thousand? People crucified him. We all thought it jokes but dude never got back online. Look at Meek, he been facing so much criticism that he deletes his account and people are legit thinking that might damage his career in the long run. Doesn't mean it's true but it makes you think a bit about where we are heading as society.

You have kids being bullied to point of suicide because of people shunning and abusing them online. That episode is real in a lot of ways

Agreed, and then the episode concludes with 2 "outcasts" who find solace, comfort, and some semblance of happiness just by freely speaking their minds and not having to conform to what society determines is "normal/acceptable."

Very interesting portrayal, albeit a bit unsettling. It can really be interpreted many ways and begs a lot of questions: who's "real" in that society? What is your personal "value"? Is it really freedom, free speech, or a pursuit of happiness at all?

I may differ from some but what I got out of San Junipero the most was when it got to conflict and she wanted her to stay. That personal history bomb drop was poignant. Ol girl never got to live life and was being selfish and greedy. Throwing shade on Gugu's husband for just dying. That stuff about their kid and his reasoning :frown: So I was with her up until she changed her mind. I don't mind the happy and understand why she changed her mind but that reveal was just lingering in my mind.

So I just came up with the rationalization that ain't the real ppl anyway. Just copied personality programs running in a virtual world.

Correct, I think what drove the point even further was the entire factory of these dead peoples' consciousness whittled down into little metal "cookies."

That small scene alone made the episode truly "Black Mirror" -- it's just a large corporation probably making a lot of $$$ on giving the deceased a manufactured "heaven on earth."

Damn, that episode really was poignant, human, and thought-provoking.

I am the only one who thought they messed up the ending of 'san junipero'?

felt like they took the easy way out.. both girls didn't really REALLY know each other.. and I thought that was the point.. yes they were having fun and there was strong attraction between the two

but I really thought the right ending, would have been for Kelly to take a leap of faith and hope that her husband was right.. and then we see yorkie learn from her experience with Kelly and let loose more but actually get to know the next person instead of just following that blind infatuation

I saw the ending of San Junipero as a bit bittersweet and not a completely happy ending (but as close to one as you can get in Black Mirror's world).

Yorkie

- Essentially paralyzed and stuck to a bed throughout her entire life

- Didn't get to live life and have experiences

- San Junipero represented a chance to really live life

Kelly

- Lived life in the real world

- Went through tragedy of losing her daughter and husband

- Probably wanted to try out San Junipero before she eventually died in the real world -- they indicated that she wanted to die like her husband did (not ending up in the "afterlife" of San Junipero)

- San Junipero represented a chance for a new start

Were they gonna end up living happily ever after in San Junipero? That's up to the viewer to interpret.

Started series 1 Saturday - finished series 3 last night. I skipped episode 5 I heard it was trash.

it's not at all trash, it's just that you 'see' the plot twist coming & it is entirely what you would expect it to be; it is prolly the most straightforward of this season (maybe w/the 1st) but it isn't terrible...

just read something on the ending of 'san junipero'

essentially what was said was that line earlier in the show about the game and the different endings if you're player 1 or player 2.. so we're getting a glimpse of both endings.. or because the world is able to create certain things, both happened

the only issue with 5 was the very very ending.. yea it was pretty predictable

but that scenario with him going home blinded wasn't one of the options ole boy gave him.. and it doesn't seem like they would let him just leave only being blind because then you risk him still being able to say something

He asked them to fix his implant.

so he went back in the program?

and why his eyes had the same glossed look like when he was blinded in the room?

did you miss the part just before that? in the interrogation room the dude explains what it is...get with the program & have the memories of revelations of reality of said program erased or be incarcerated for life & be tortured with memories of his actions under the program...

yea I caught that..

was just wondering why dude showed up to the house at the end, flickering between reality and whatever actual was.. and then when we saw his face his eyes looked like he had been blinded, again
